CHAPTER ONE

A NEW BEGINNING

It’s been a year since Sarah was made a vampire. Stuart and Brad have been working with her trying to teach her all that she needed to know about survival. Sarah and Chloe have gone through some changes as well but they are still inseparable. All the guys have really taken to Sarah’s change and they are proud of her and Chloe. Sarah wakes up early only to find Chloe is not there. Naturally, she thinks that Chloe is out jogging like she always does. Sarah uses her new mind gift and quickly rules that out for she sensed that Carter and James were still in their room. She gets up and goes to the kitchen only to find that Chloe has made coffee and was out on the balcony. Sarah puts her robe on and then goes out to be with her…

There you are! You had me worried there a minute girl. Sarah said putting her arms around Chloe.

Good morning! I couldn’t sleep anymore. I hope you don’t mind? Chloe asked quickly and leaning forward to kiss her.

No, not at all and thank you. Sarah said smiling and kissing her back.

I believe Carter and James have plans for us today. They want to show us this place where most of our people got their start. I wanted it to be a surprise but I’ll go ahead and tell you. They are taking us to Stonehenge. Chloe said waiting for Sarah to respond.

Are you serious? I want to take my dad’s book with all the pictures in it. I wonder if Alex would show me where my dad got his start for I would love to see it. Sarah asked as there was a knock on the door.

Sarah goes to answer it and it was Alex…

Alex, please come in. I guess you heard me huh? Sarah asked quickly.

Yes, my dear. I don’t mind going with you. I can show you some of the places we use to go to together. Alex said nearly laughing.

Carter and James quickly came down the hallway towards Sarah’s apartment. They were coming to see if they were ready to go. The small jet plane had just landed and was waiting on them. They all go down to the great room. Stuart and Brad were also planning on going just in case there was any trouble…

Girls, I want you to have a good time but hurry home and don’t be gone too long. Vincent said being serious with them.

We will and I promise Vincent, I won’t keep her out long. Sarah said just looking at him.

They all head out the plane and it quickly took off. Inside, Chloe and Sarah were busy looking over her dad’s book with Alex. Sarah couldn’t wait to get there. Chloe was even a bit excited. Carter and James were buys fussing on what they plan to do first. Stuart and Brad were trying to understand them and laughing the whole time for it reminded them of themselves a long time ago…

James, why are you being so stubborn? If I didn’t love you so much… Carter said breaking off and pulling James close to him.

I know. I love to stir things up as Brad always says. I guess I get my stubbornness from him though. What do you think Stuart? James asked laughing and waiting for Brad to respond.

Well, actually James I would have to agree. You are a lot like Brad in many ways. Stuart said looking at Brad.

Now, wait a minute Stuart… I’m not that stubborn. Brad said quickly.

They all start laughing at him as he too started to laugh for he actually agreed with them. Chloe and Sarah quickly looked up to see how happy the guys were for a change. It’s been so long since everyone has had the chance to stop and laugh and have fun. But that’s what this trip is for and they were determined to enjoy it. Russell informed Stuart that they were nearly at the England International Airport. Stuart gave him orders to check for clearance and get a separate hanger to put the plane in. He did and Brad used a special portal to put the plane in so it wouldn’t be found by anyone but them. Then, they all got into the limo that was provided to go to Stonehenge. It would be about a three hour ride from the airport but they were in no big hurry. They were just excited to see new country…

Sarah, I want to warn you about something. We will have to be on guard while we are here. There may be some here that would see us a threat. I’m not saying that anything is going to happen but just in case. Stuart said quickly knowing that would make everyone on edge.

I know. I’ve been trying to scan the area already for the Paranormal Community but I haven’t sensed anyone. I’m sure they won’t bother us but don’t be surprised if you feel your thoughts being reached or something. Sarah said looking at everyone.

Guys, can we please just have a nice trip with no worries? I for one am not going to be looking for any trouble unless it just jumps out at me. Chloe said trying to change the subject.

We agree Chloe, but we have to keep our guard up anyways and that means you too. Stuart said firmly but softly to her.

Carter and James didn’t say anything. They only looked at each other and then to the others for they both have had enough trouble in their past to last a lifetime. No one bothered to say or ask them anything because everyone knew how they felt. Everyone spent the rest of the ride looking out the windows trying to have a good time until they got there…

Sarah, look… it’s just like your dad’s picture. Here, look at this… Chloe said handing Sarah the picture.

Your right Chloe… wow, if only he could see us now and here we are going to the place that he did when he was younger. Sarah said holding the picture and nearly crying.

This place holds a certain magic that very few people know. When we get back Sarah, you can ask my BJ about this picture. You might be surprised at what he tells you. Alex said handing her another picture to put in her album.

Sarah takes it and it was a picture of some Underground Men in white robes standing in a circle with her father. She looked at it closer and there was BJ standing to the right of him. She quickly looked up at Alex and smiled. She put the picture in her book and closed it for it was time to get out of the car because it had stopped right in front of the entrance of Stonehenge.

Chloe and Sarah were the first ones out of the car. They went running towards the huge stones and rocks. Carter and James were next and they took off after the girls. Stuart, Brad and Alex just watched them as they took their time for they were not in a rush…

Come on guys we don’t want to miss the sunset. Sarah said quickly and shouting at them.

We can see it through that archway as it goes down. Chloe said pointing for them.

They all made their way in to the center of the huge stones. There was so much energy flowing around them. Sarah was standing the center of them as Chloe began twirling around them in the circle humming. She had a glazed look on her face as Sarah put her hands towards the archway where they could see the sunset as she began chanting…

Ra rises in the East and sets in the West. Who is ready to face their Quest?

Sarah snarled at all of them.

At first the others didn’t quit know what was going on until Sarah kept saying it over and over. Each time she would look at them snarling at them. Chloe had begun to spin around faster and laughing—almost like a child until Brad stopped her…

Chloe, what are you doing? Brad asked quickly and looking at her strange.

(She puts her hand up to his face) Afraid to face your fears… what is it you really want Brad? Chloe said fading out.

Why do you ask that Sarah? Alex asked trying to read her thoughts but they were blocked by something.

What fears? We are immortal—we fear nothing. Stuart shouted at Chloe getting angry.

Who has to face this Quest Sarah? Alex asked quickly still trying to understand.

All of you do along with some that are not here. Sarah responded still snarling at them.

I will not listen to anymore of this. Be gone now! Stuart said quickly as he threw his hand up.

Sarah quickly came back to herself looking at them strange. Everyone just looked at each other as Chloe quickly stopped spinning around looking at them strange as well…

Okay girls, let’s get you back home. I’ve had enough adventure for one day I think. Stuart said getting firm with everyone.

I agree. Alex answered.

They all went back to the limo. Once back on the plane, Carter and James went to their room while Sarah and Chloe went to theirs. Stuart, Brad and Alex stayed in the big room so they could talk…

So, what just happened Alex? Stuart asked looking at him strange.

I’m not exactly sure Stuart. Alex responded sadly.

Yes, well I knew something like this might happen. Brad said getting angry.

Watch your tone Brad. I agree. What were you guys looking at before we got here? Stuart asked looking at Brad and then to Alex.

We were looking at pictures of Sarah’s father and I along with some of BJ. But I don’t know what caused that display. I tried reading her thoughts but they were blocked by something. Alex answered.

Well, we will have to think about our next plan of action. Brad said sadly.

I will get a hold of Vincent and see what he thinks. Alex said quickly.

Stuart takes Brad by the hand and they go down the hall to their room.

STUART & BRAD’S ROOM

Stuart closed and locked the door behind them. He walked over to Brad and put his arms around him…

You’ve had a busy day. Can I slow those thoughts down for you? Stuart whispered to him.

Sorry, Stuart. I just can’t help but wonder what the Quest is for? Brad asked with blood tears in his eyes.

I don’t know. Hopefully there is no Quest, maybe it’s for peace? Stuart asked quickly.

Peace in knowing our fears? It doesn’t make sense Stuart? Brad said with the same tone again as he looked at Stuart.

I see and what of your tone Brad? You know that I only give warnings once. Stuart said quickly grabbing a hold of Brad.

Stuart had pulled Brad to him and had his teeth pinching Brad’s neck. Brad let out a grasp and then just held on tight to Stuart…

I know that you don’t mean the way you sound but I do have rules Brad. Stuart said to him.

I know Stuart and I’m sorry. It’s just that fear was all I had. Brad said quickly.

Really, what was I to you then? Please, tell me… Stuart asked sharply.

You were my maker Stuart and still are. Now, you are mine forever but you were once lost to me so I had to cling to my fear Stuart. Brad said with blood tears coming down his face.

Don’t you think I felt the same when they took you away from me? I have you now Brad, don’t let your fear take you away from me this time. Stuart said with blood tears coming down his face now.

He quickly let go of Brad. Brad just looked at Stuart as he reached up to wipe them for him. Stuart did the same for Brad…

No words can ever mend what they took from us can they? It still hurts after all these years. Brad said looking at him with those green eyes he loves.

True, but we have each other and the boys—don’t lose sight of that Brad. Stuart said smiling at him.

You of all should hate the most Stuart for all that I did to you. But when I look at you all I see is love for me—why? Brad asked his maker.

I made you and I chose you Brad. Besides, I have great love for you that no one can take that away from us. Stuart said leaning forward to kiss him on the forehead.

And I for you Stuart. Billy was jealous of you and there was a time when Billy thought he loved me along with Alex. They both thought I would come to them with open arms… Brad said being stopped by Stuart.

Yes, well all they had to do was ask me. No chains could ever hold you down. You are a free spirit Brad. That was their one mistake with you. I learned that the hard way though. Stuart said laughing.

Maybe, but you have me now as you say. I can live with that. Brad said now laughing.

Here, drink this and we will work on this tomorrow with Vincent okay? Stuart said handing Brad a drink.

Brad quickly drinks it as Stuart was showering Brad with kisses and gently biting him on the neck. Brad was beside himself with the pleasure of it all. Stuart had slowly pushed Brad back onto the pillows of the bed as Brad was unaware that a change was coming over him but Stuart could tell but didn’t know who it was at first…

What is it my Brad… I see we are happy. Stuart said lovingly to him.

Yes, I believe I have died and this is heaven Stuart. Brad answered softly to him.

Really then—how so? Stuart asked giving a little laugh to him.

I’m in a dream, in a time before a time. A beautiful maiden gives me wings. I’m awake… there’s a halo in my hair but my statue remains. Brad said but it was someone else now.

Stuart quickly jumped up from the bed with an evil look on his face for he said the name in his mind as Brad gave an evil smile as he sat up on his knees…

What is it Stuart? Not having any fun without your precious Brad? Billy (Brad) snapped at him.

Get out of Brad now you demon! Stuart shouted at Billy and slapped him (Brad) across the face.

That should be fun explaining to Brad. Billy laughed at him.

Stuart was about to do it again but he could hear Billy laughing and taking off out the door down the hallway of the plane. Brad had fallen back on the bed as he let out a gasp for air. Stuart quickly came over to him…

What the hell just happened? Brad asked sitting up now.

You know who decided to show up again! Stuart answered quickly.

Ah, I see… what the hell? Brad was saying as he touched his lip and it was bleeding.

Brad, wait… Stuart said quickly.

You slapped me? Brad asked laughing a bit and walking to the bathroom.

No, I was slapping Billy but he was… well, you know what I mean. Come, here and let me see. Stuart said holing out his hand.

Nope, you slapped me. The fun is over now. Brad said shaking his head and watching Stuart in the mirror knowing that would get things started with Stuart.
