As Henry sat back in his office chair, he lost himself in deep thought. Henry is a legal counselor for a big insurance agency. His job is to protect the insurance company no matter how severely they broke rules. Henry grew tired quickly with the thought of how many people were exploited and lost all settlements towards the insurance company. People suffered, and he felt more and more like the devil than a saint.

It neared December and Henry for the last time took on a case for the insurance company. This was not in any way satisfying to hear for his boss. He became irate with Henry’s decision to leave.

Sir, it’s not permanent, but I need time to myself. I’m not feeling like myself lately and it shows in my willingness to do my job.

His boss sighed and panned the room for anything to stare at in a lost manner. His boss nodded and spoke.

All right. I’ll give you time off, however, you need to guarantee me you’ll come back refreshed.

Yes, sir. I will. You can count on that. Henry extended his arm forward for a farewell shake.

His boss firmly grabbed his hand and shook. The company would miss him and his methods of completing things and the rewards he had acquired from every case. If this vacation meant Henry would come back refreshed and new, then no one was to hold him back.

Henry grabbed his things from his desk and briskly walked towards the exit. When he reached the outdoors, the air was thick and chilly. His breath became visible with every exhale. He found his car key and clicked the remote start button. He was thankful his car had this feature. New England could get cold amid this time of year. The engine roared and Henry advanced toward the car to warm up his already frozen limbs.

Once inside, he inserted his key and drove for home. On the way home, numerous thoughts ran through his mind. Where would he go? What would he do with all that time? Henry had a routine. Wake up, eat, clean up, get dressed and then work. Everyday, it was the same thing. Henry shook his head to jolt him from his thoughts. He was sure he would have everything figured out in time.

When Henry reached home, he made a beeline for his computer. He researched many places that would be ideal for a vacation. Hours passed by when he finally stumbled upon something that piqued his interested.

Switzerland, huh? Sounds perfect. He hummed to himself.

He scrolled through the many paragraphs and many pages of information listed for Zermott Matterhorn, Switzerland. The atmosphere there became a telltale sign that this would be the place to vacation and collect himself.

Henry went through the rooms for rent, houses for rent and even apartments. He looked at each picture carefully, guaranteeing that he had it all narrowed down to his tastes. He was a simple man. He never really cared for the extravagant lifestyle. He had it down to two different places. Both were simple in colors and style. Both were great in pricing for rent for his three month vacation.

Casa D’Angelina. Henry breathed out of his mouth.

It was perfect. The colors were not entirely feminine, but not masculine either. It was a happy medium between both. Henry became quite satisfied with this house. He clicked to book it and entered his information. When Henry reserved everything, he reclined in his chair and started the planning process in his mind.

Switzerland offered a variety of things to do and places to visit. He could even chow down on local foods that his taste buds have never experienced. He wrote the places he definitely wanted to visit. The thought of him visiting such a place alone never bothered him. Truth be told, he had an inclination he’d find the right crowd to hang out with and get to know.

He checked his watch and strode to his closet. He pulled out three suitcases and packed. Henry booked his flight for the following day in a later hour, this would give him time in the morning to wake up and get his morning off to a great start.

Once packed, Henry made himself dinner and retired for the night, anticipating the start of his vacation.

The next day had arrived and Henry checked for the last time to see if he had everything. He inspected his watch for the time and headed on out with his suitcases. He locked up the house securely and started his car with the remote.

Whoa, it seems to be getting colder outside as November turns to December. Henry shuddered inside his Winter jacket.

He spun around on his heels and jiggled to generate body heat. He bolted for the car and his face met with a magnificent warmth. As soon as he buckled his seatbelt, snow flurries took shape on his windshield. Hopefully, the weather doesn’t exacerbate and defer his flight.

Nahhh, it should be fine. He disregarded.

He pulled out of his driveway and headed for the airport. The roads looked slick and ready to accept newly fallen snow. He drove carefully, ensuring he’d avoid black ice. The drive was long, but it was relaxing. It put Henry in the right mind-set just before his flight.

Henry took the exit for the airport and followed the dense traffic till he reached his destination. He pulled up to valet and tossed the key to the attendant.

No scratches, please. Henry called out.

    Yes, sir. The attendant responded.

The airport clamored and Christmas music played among the commotion. Henry scanned the area for the flight board and once found, he followed it to the correct gate number.

His pace quickened the nearer he came to the gate. He picked a spot near the window in the waiting area. He wanted to see the plane. Something about this idea made him more excited for his new endeavor.

Ladies and Gentlemen, you may now board the plane. A voice came over the intercom.

Switzerland, here I come. Henry spoke as he rose from his seat.

He grabbed a single suitcase which was his carryon baggage. The other two pieces of luggage were much too large to carryon and had to be checked in, so the smaller one came with him. He followed the crowd to the entrance of the plane and boarded.

The further along he walked in the plane catwalk, the colder it got. Once in the plane, he scouted out his seat and became satisfied to know it was a window seat. He preferred seats by the window when going on trips. Seeing the clouds float by was calming in a way.

He followed the aisle down to his seat and loaded his bag into the overhead area. He sat and made himself comfortable. He observed everyone else board and find their seats. Soon, the empty seats next to him filled and the pilots voice boomed in.

Welcome aboard flight number 4509 bound for Switzerland. Looks as though snow is about to fall, however, this shouldn’t cause any turbulence en route. Buckle up and most of all, relax and enjoy the flight.

Henry perceived a small ding over the prattle of the passengers. Just above Henry’s head, a small light came on indicating everyone must fasten their seatbelts. A flight attendant clarified the best possible system in the event of any crisis.

Prepare for take off. The pilots voice rang in.

Henry gripped the arms of his chair tightly as departures and arrivals are the worst experiences for him regarding flying. When the plane leveled out, he extricated his grip and relaxed. The light for the seatbelts disappeared and the clicks of belts releasing overflowed the plane.

Henry opened the window shield and watched the clouds pass. It even looked cold above the clouds too. Soon the flight attendants went down the aisle asking if anyone wanted refreshments or something to snack on. Henry accepted a bottle of water and a small bag of peanuts. This would be a long flight and having something in the stomach would be pleasing.
