Dipping into the small mound of yellow ochre Christi swirled her paintbrush gingerly. Being rich in limonite, the vivid yellow captured the true essence of the sun she wanted to depict in her newest creation. With feather light motions her wrist flicked with a circular rhythm. Beside her pallet rested an ornate chalice. Inside, a clear liquid awaited a brush for cleaning. She placed her brush inside the chalice wiggling it vigorously.

Christi glanced over to a framed photo. It was her favorite picture. Her petite fingers gripped the maple colored frame bringing it closer to her rounded face. Smiling sweetly at the blonde in the photo she hugged it tightly.

    I miss you, mom.

Christi was fifteen when her mother passed away. Her death was ruled as an accident however Christi never believed it. Her mother was always cautious when it came to her life and the family. She spent many years pressing her father to look into her death yet he shot her down time and time again. This drove a wedge between her and her father. The older she became the further she drew away from her father.

She rested the picture in its spot and reviewed her newest painting. Standing several feet back to examine the painting in its entirety she deemed it worthy for her studio. Her studio brought much joy to her life. Opening it was her way of moving on. She’s always loved art and grew up with the masterpieces of many famous painters. Her fondness for art was inherited from her parents. Being an only child Christi obtained everything her heart desired. Some say she was spoiled while others said the opposite.

Sauntering into the public sector of her studio, she viewed her work she completed over the years. Living in Castleberry Hill, Georgia proved her decision to break away from her father and mansion life drove her passion for art to higher heights. Castleberry Hill was a unique urban community where early 20th century warehouse buildings had been converted into lofts, art studios and shops. During her scouting period, Christi knew this part of Georgia would suit her needs. Castleberry Hill, located on the southwestern edge of Atlanta’s central business district was known for its wonderful array of art on display.

When she purchased the warehouse, she knew it would be her new home and studio. Breaking away from her father caused them to cease contact for many years. It was obvious this affected her father greatly. Removing her smock and hanging it up for the day, Christi began cleaning up. Before disappearing into her working quarters footsteps collected by the entrance to the studio. The sound turned heavy as if the person was exhausted. The heavy thuds became light dragging making its way to her work area.

How many times have I told you to pick up your feet? Christi spun around laying her sapphire eyes on Malcolm Bryant, her boyfriend of three years.

Nice to see you too. He placed a kiss on her crimson lips.

How was work? She asked, tying her blonde hair into a low ponytail.

"Oh, the usual. Simmons thinks he has a lead to the missing paintings but
