How To Shoot Great Video For Your Business - Patrick Angell
Introduction
Second Skill: Filming
I know you are already into making and uploading YouTube videos as part of your Internet entrepreneurship. Here are some great tips on improving your filming skills and techniques.
Chapter One: Filming best tips
Getting your video right is the most important element that determines the quality of your channel content. While you may be following some basic tips for creating videos already, here is a fairly comprehensive list that covers all kinds of web filming:
Keep the camera steady – Constantly zooming in and around and/or panning left and right can cause more harm than good. The thumb rule is to get every short for at least 10 seconds. Don’t try to include camera action while you are shooting. Simply capture the real action and let the frame speak for itself. If you follow this tip correctly, the results will be great during the editing process.
Get different angles of every scene – Make sure you cover all angles of an event or scene. Having multiple angles of the same scene will be extremely useful for you during the editing process as the video will be highly resourceful in terms of getting close-up shots, wide-angle shots, and medium-range shorts. You can choose what suits best in the overall context of the video.
Focus on the background – Any good video will have a background that is in sync with the context of the story. For example, it would be naïve to shoot a stunning Lamborghini with a slum in the background if you are explaining the fantastic features of the car. However, this background might be perfect if you are using the Lamborghini to draw attention to widening income inequalities! That is what I mean by ensuring that the background of the video is aligned to the context. Focus on this aspect and make necessary changes if needed.
Lighting – This aspect is the same for filming as it is for shooting still photographs. The object should be sufficiently lit (without being overly lit). Placing the object(s) of your shoot in front of the sun or under the shade of a tree will result in bad videos that you will not be proud of.
Master the rule of thirds – This is a simple yet powerful technique to get wonderfully eloquent images. Allow me to explain this simple rule
