    Introduction

After my last breakup, I was in my forties and I had to find a place to live. I didn’t want to rent a studio(which was what I could afford if I lived alone), so I decided to look at roommate ads. I thought if two people rented, or if one owned the place, it would be much nicer than a small apartment.  If I had money, I would have bought a house and avoided difficult situations.

As it turns out, I had to put up with inconsiderate roommates or landlords, their friends and families. In a span of ten years I had six roommates, some of which were the landlords. They were all difficult to relate to.

Before I experienced sharing a place, I thought people were fair and empathetic. I was hoping a roommate would be at least that, and more than that, such as kind, intelligent and have the potential for being a friend. I never found that.

After my roommate experiences, I didn’t trust people. That wasn’t a justifiable feeling. You can’t condemn the whole human race because of a few inconsiderate roommates. Nevertheless, that’s the way I felt. As for the men I dated some were nice, but most of them were inconsiderate and some were mean. This book is not a pity party. It’s the truth.

If you’re having a difficult day, No More Roommates; No More Dating will enhance your mood. The roommate situations I found myself in were unbelievable, yet they could be considered funny. The same goes for my dating experiences. I’m angry at myself that I put trust in people I didn’t know. But I survived and moved on.

The Nice Roommate with the Annoying Family

The first roommate I had was a man in his sixties who had a good job, but no longer wanted to work. He wanted to jet ski in the summer and travel in the winter. He thought a roommate was the answer and I believe it was. He quit his job and rented a room to me with house privileges.
