They date secretly several times as her mother disapproves of her getting involved with another Italian, her feelings growing stronger for each other after a dinner date in a restaurant they walk around the corner to his apartment where that night they become lovers.

Continuing to date secretly one night he pops the question and she accepts and they are making wedding plans, when she tells her mother about it her mother having no idea that she had a hysterectomy she proclaiming to her mother that she is pregnant with his baby.
