I live in Pahrump, NV with my husband who has given me a fairy-tale marriage. I am a seventeen time published author. I have been writing short stories all my life. I've had a fascination with vampires since I was a child so that tends to be my subject matter. Halloween is my favorite holiday! I enjoy hanging out with family and friends, reading, writing reviews, watching movies, Reiki and listening to music. I'm intrigued by the paranormal and enjoy doing research for my stories. I was an exchange student in Brasil during high school so you will find references to that in some of my stories. I'm living the American Dream!

    Acknowledgements

There are so many people I need to thank that really helped me get this book out there and seen. First, I have to thank my Editor, Jessica Sawa who always makes my books sound good. Whom I rushed but she didn’t get frustrated with me.  Next, I tried my hand at cover designing for this book but it would never have gotten done had it not been for the amazing Brandi Kennedy (an Author herself, check her stuff out at authorbrandikennedy.blogspot.com) helping walk me through the program and its features. I can’t thank my beta readers enough, Sabrena Pattat, P.J. Belden and Erica Lee-Perez. Also, Jolinda from Swag A Licious makes the most amazing prizes so make sure you look her up with the same name on Facebook. Lastly are two friends, who took on the challenge of getting me out there, setting up an event, creating teasers, managing social media and so much more for this book: Amelia Bronson and Amanda Black Barrow. Thanks to all my Ladies!!!

    Dedication

As always, it is to my husband that I dedicate this book. He was the one saying, You need to incorporate other paranormal creatures than just vampires into your stories which made me come up with the dragon idea. So, without his encouragement, I wouldn’t have had the courage to branch out and add a dragon shifter to my book.

He has given me a fairy tale marriage. He is my best friend, my sweetie, my muse and my soul soldier. He is my light during my dark times and everything in between. Without him, there would be no me. His encouragement is what gets me through some of my writing bouts and keep me plugging away. Some of him is in all of my books in some way or another. Thank you hubby!

    Prologue

Larissa’s parents had been taken away when she was at a young age by an ‘evil force’, or so she was told, so she was taken in by her Aunt Brandi. She kept the child hidden, homeschooling her which made her mature for her age and only allowing her outside to play during the daylight hours. Larissa often took to the woods and loved to find hidden treasures like shells and rocks. She would also sit and talk to the animals. The only one that spoke back was a beautiful brown and white owl. They would carry on long conversations and the other animals would gather around to listen. She would also take home items with her and show her Aunt who was always interested. She had tons of her favorite books in her room with her favorite flower pressed between the pages. Her Aunt always made the time for her, just like a mom would have, she guessed. She had very little memories of her parents because it seemed like it was so long ago when they were taken. Her Aunt was really good about speaking with her and telling their stories of all the fun times and even gave trinkets to her that had been her mothers’. The girl was sad at the thought of missing parents that she never really knew and felt a little silly doing it.

He waited patiently, like he had for so long, crouched back within the flora, watching as the seven year old little girl skipped through the woods innocently. He still sat like a statue, waiting. This time and this rock was going to be different though with a little intervention from him. He put the flat, oval, speckled looking rock in plain sight of the girls’ typically trodden path. He just had a feeling about this little girl so he watched the rock as she approached. She skipped right up to it and stopped dead in her tracks, looking around like something around her had startled her. She finally looked down and spotted the rock which she gave a screwed-up face look to. She’d never seen any rock like this one before so she bent down to pick it up. As soon as the rock touched the girls’ hand, it started to glow pink all around it in her hand. She immediately dropped it, startled, but couldn’t take her eyes off it on the ground.

She slowly bent over and picked it back up and it lit up again and a sudden pink streak of hair grew out from the root, front center of her scalp and flowed all the way down to the tips of the rest of her hair. He immediately knew she was the one and swooped in. The little girl never knew what hit her as he had sprinkled some sleeping powder from afar on her so she wouldn’t fight during the journey to the caves. He made his way, in broad daylight, carrying the girl in his arms through the air to what would be her new home for the next ten years though she didn’t know it yet.

When he returned to the caves with the girl, he was immediately surrounded by the Neculi. They all knew he’d been searching for the girl for a long time, which girl the prophecy never disclosed, but they knew he’d find her as had been his sole job up to this point. They knew from the pink strip of hair, freshly grown, that she was the girl they’d been waiting for all these eternities. The prophecy foretold of great battles, power struggles and the rise against the vampire clans that had ruled the dark Earth for so long. Now, it was going to be their time to make their return and with a vengeance. With this girl, brought hope and peace to the Neculi. SHE would bring them hope and peace. She would be their savior, their everything good in the future. Now it was their turn to start her on her long journey ahead.

    Chapter One

Larissa woke to the sound of whispers and darkness at first but as she slowly cracked her eyes, she saw the small light flickering around her as she slowly fought silently to get familiar with her surroundings. Never being in a cave made this difficult. She was laying on a cold stone floor (the blanket underneath her did very little to block out the cold floor. She was in a damp location and it was dark all around her save for that one flickering light piercing through her eyelids. This was not her bed at home so she was immediately frightened. The whispers around her and in her head didn’t stop until she slowly opened her eyes all the way, where there was a collective sucking in of air from those all around her. As her eyes adjusted to the dark, she saw them, well, at least their eyes. There were tons of pairs of eyes looking out of the pitch dark at her. All colors and sizes were represented there. Though the whispers stopped, which had been hurting her ears and she just got jumbles of words in her mind, she just sat there a moment observing and trying to see who or
