About this ebook

This is the second of Victor Edet's powerfully positive, inspiring and uplifting daily devotional, addressing more issues we all face in our lives at one time or another. This devotional again reminds us who God is, how passionately interested He is in our well-being - as shown in the pages of scripture - and challenges us to take God at His word, and implement the tools for life He has given us to be the overcomers so that we can fully share in the inheritance He has assigned us.

    FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK

It is with great joy I welcome you to the third quarter of the year 2017. I am confident that every day of this quarter will bring the best of heaven into your life.

I am also thankful that you have this devotional in your hand. I believe the last edition was a tremendous blessing to you.

Friends, ignorance of the Word of God can place you at a disadvantage. It can keep you in captivity and deprive you of all the blessings that God has in store for you.

Also, the level to which you know God determines how He will manifest himself in your life and circumstances.

Furthermore, the activities of the kingdom of darkness are on the increase and it has become absolutely necessary for you as a child of God to arm yourself with the relevant truth of the Word of God. Therefore, it has become obligatory for us as believers to spend more time studying and meditating on the Word of God. With this devotional providing you with a much needed guide, you will do well to devote time for your own study daily.

Please write to me or call with the details below if you need further help. Don’t forget also to share with me your experiences and testimonies with this devotional. It will greatly encourage me. God bless you as you encounter your life-changing experience.

    JULY 1

TOPIC: GOD WILL MAKE A WAY

TEXT: GENESIS 26:16-22. And he removed from thence, and digged another well; and for that they strove not: and he called the name of it Rehoboth; and he said, For now the LORD hath made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land.

Today being the first day of the second half of the year, God allows me to tell you that he will make a way for you. No matter the condition, God will make a way for you.

Isaac was forced by the King of the Philistine, Abimelech to depart from their country because the blessing of God on his life was intimidating. When he departed to another city, they envied him because he succeeded in his determination to dig wells of water, so they took the wells of water he had dug. He moved to another place and they kept striving with him until they were tired. The blessings of God in Isaac’s life could not stop though they fought him; and in the end God still blessed him more.

Beloved, no matter how the enemy has sworn to fight you, keep loving and serving God for he will make room for you. In Psalm 23:5 God says he will prepare a table before you in the presence of your enemies. Your battles will only make the goodness of God to be more evident in your life. The more they fight you, the more God will bless you. The more they envy you, the more God will promote you.

Also in Exodus 1:12, the more they afflicted the children of Israel, the more they multiplied; so cheer up, for God will make room for you through afflictions. He will make a way for you in the midst of your trials.

    PRAYER

    1. Lord, thank you, for my present situation will reveal how great you are to me.

    2. May more of your blessings manifest in my life today in Jesus’s name.

    GOLDEN NUGGET

Your battles will only make the goodness of God to be more evident in your life.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ALL THOSE BORN IN JULY.

TOPIC: LESSONS FROM THE LIFE OF ELKANAH 1

TEXT: 1 SAMUEL 1:1-3. Now there was a certain man of Ramathaim-zophim, of mount Ephraim, and his name was Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Elihu, the son of Tohu, the son of Zuph, an Ephrathite: And he had two wives; the name of the one was Hannah, and the name of the other Peninnah: and Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children. And this man went up out of his city yearly to worship and to sacrifice unto the LORD of hosts in Shiloh. And the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, the priests of the LORD, were there.

Elkanah means ‘God has created’. This man married two wives by the names of Hannah and Peninnah. Hannah is the woman he loved but he had no child from her, for Hannah was barren. The Bible tells us that every year this man would leave his house in the mountain of Ephraim and go up to Shiloh to worship God. Though his needs had not been met, yet he kept going to worship God every year.

The lesson we learn from Elkanah today is that, as seen in verse 3, he went up to worship God yearly. Your problems should never keep you from the house of God. It is an error for you as a child of God to stay away from church because your prayer is not yet answered or the most pressing need in your life has not yet been met. Know that the greatest gift God can ever give to you is life and as long as you are joined to the living there is hope for you. (Ecclesiastes 9:4). Rise up now, get yourself ready, and go to the house of God today and worship him. Thank him for what he has done before, especially for the things he has done that you don’t know about.

Never allow your problems to push you away from God, but let them draw you closer to him. He who has blessed you in other areas of your life, will supply what is lacking. Don’t let physical issues disconnect you from your spiritual root. (Romans 8:35-39).

    PRAYER

    1. Lord, forgive me for allowing my needs to blind my eyes from seeing your faithfulness.

    2. From today may nothing ever separate me from your love.

    GOLDEN NUGGET

Never allow your problems to push you away from God but let them draw you closer to him.

TOPIC: LESSONS FROM THE LIFE OF ELKANAH 2

TEXT: 1 SAMUEL 1:3. This man went up out of his city yearly to worship and to sacrifice unto the LORD of hosts in Shiloh. And the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, the priests of the LORD, were there.

Today we continue our lessons from the life of Elkanah. In verse 3, Elkanah did not just worship, but his worship was a complete worship because it was accompanied by a sacrifice or an offering. We as believers should understand that our worship to God is not complete without our offering accompanying our worship.

In Genesis 22:1-2 God told Abraham to offer his son Isaac as a sacrifice to him, and in verse 5 of the same chapter Abraham told his young men that he and Isaac would go up to worship God. Your financial and material offerings are as important to God as your praises. Do you give your tithe? Do you give good offerings? How are you contributing to the advancement of the kingdom in your local church? What is your commitment towards projects undertaken in your local churches?

Don’t just worship God but also give him of your substances because your offerings will help the gospel and kingdom work go far, as confirmed by Zechariah 1:17. God bless you as you do his bidding.

    PRAYER

    1. Father, forgive my negative attitude towards giving and tithing. I repent today in Jesus’s name.

    2. Give me a willing heart to give toward kingdom projects, in Jesus’s name.

    GOLDEN NUGGET

Your financial and material offerings are as important to God as your praises.

TOPIC: LESSONS FROM THE LIFE OF ELKANAH 3

TEXT: 1 SAMUEL 1:4. And when the time was that Elkanah offered, he gave to Peninnah his wife, and to all her sons and her daughters, portions.

In continuation of our studies on the life of Elkanah, we will do well to imbibe the positives about his life. It will help us to become better Christians. Our focus today will be on our text. We see here that he didn’t go alone to worship.
