Still chasing those Dreams Son - Steven Benoni
This book contains two plays
Still chasing those dreams son.
Who gives a Shit
I decided that since they were both short between 15 – 20 mins long it would be only right to combine them both. Plus they vary dramatically from both spectrums. With one being extremely psychotic involving a father's hatred for his sons acting ability and the other a rather silly comedy based on three talking toilets. Forgive my format but I am new to all this. Hopefully, you’ll enjoy both.
The language used in this book is very expressive (Explicit language used throughout) however the need for the language to match my characters traits was required. He is like a stampeding bull in a China shop and is incessant on having his son follow his father’s dreams.
LIGHT FADES IN:
INTERIOR; Room/theatre – room is surrounded by black curtains, so time irrelevant. The father has just witnessed his son's last performance at university.
Three characters onstage; father, son, female degree tutor
Son (normal student dress/jeans etc. Is placed just to the right of centre stage and is sat on the floor holding his groin and rubbing himself along the floor.
Father 48years, famous actor, movie star, - standing CSL (dressed waistcoat, Steampunk.
Teacher USR – (dressed as though librarian, timid look)

FATHER
‘Still chasing those dreams son’
SON
‘But it hurts dad’.
FATHER
‘That’s what acting is son, pain, feel the pain’. He says with anger in his voice then turns to her. ‘And what the fuck are you looking at......don’t squirm in front of me you lowest of the low. Look what you’ve done to my son’.
SON
‘Dad, I can't take it anymore’.
FATHER
‘You have to son, if you don’t suffer the pain now, you’ll never know the truth. The reason we thespians exist. The reason people drag themselves off their fucking arses, just so they can watch the imaginary lives of others to be displayed in front of them to critique, enjoy, admire but most of all love.
It’s that simple son, it’s all a game, we are here to fill the seats, quality, now that’s another thing altogether’.
TEACHER
‘Leave him alone, he can make up his own mind’.
FATHER
(Said RP) ‘Oh, can he’...moving towards her USR ‘can he, he’s a fucking vegetable, he’s useless just like you. You couldn’t act your way out of a paper bag, your useless, insignificant, pointless’
SON
‘No she’s not dad’.
The father returns rapidly to his son
––––––––
FATHER
‘she’s fucked your head up son with material, with print, ink that is supposed to be thrown away, analysis comes from you, your way of performing is paramount to creating reality in a non-realistic world’.
SON
‘It’s my fault dad, I messed up’.
FATHER
‘You messed
