I Believe - Steven Benoni
When I wrote ‘I Believe’ I pondered over how I should approach a subject which in many people’s eyes could be rather sensitive.
I wondered how such a strong man could be taken from this world and what changes his impact had left us. With all of the terrible atrocities happening across the continents and how people are still being treated as second-class citizens, what would be our future? How would his legacy be manipulated by the media, would the world question who he was in the future. Thus I created the idea of a hologram programmed by humans who thought they knew how he would react as a haptic hologram. I also wondered how the programmers data might be wrong and what effect this would have on Martin Luther Kings hologram.
Manipulation of historical facts, the news and written text is a way in which I perceive our future media might adapt just as the past examples. Adapting his words, his feelings, the truth and how their ego like Chinese whispers can hide the truth from our future.
My apologies to those who may feel offence at reading this script, this is not intentional and is merely fiction. I had many doubts whilst writing it as it is very powerful throughout, I wanted to show the intensity of mankind and the doubts we place for our future readers.
