    Introduction

    ––––––––

    I still love bodybuilding.

But it's no longer my life.

I've spent my teen and adult years lifting weights, inhaling the sweat of all the other gym rats around me and rubbing elbows with the elite of the IFBB.

I began competing when I was 23, both nationally and internationally.

I’m 6’ 3" or 191 centimeters tall. I used to weigh 305 pounds or 139 kilo, off season. Competition weight was around 260 lbs.

You probably haven't heard of me. I'm keeping my identity secure only because I now have a career and a business in a totally different field. I'm successful and well-respected, and I don't want to mix them up.

That’s especially true because of what this book is about. A lot of people have a lot of irrational prejudice about it.

I want the freedom to speak my mind without restraint or fear.

I Want to Make Sure You’re Not Fooled

Be careful who you take advice from.

Bodybuilders can mislead other bodybuilders, telling them false facts that can make them fat or weak.

Even if your best buddy doesn’t deliberately lie to you, he may not know half as much as you both think he does. Being one step ahead of you doesn’t make him an expert.

The world  is full of people who know just enough to be dangerous. That’s especially true of areas such as bodybuilding, where there are many dangers for the  unwary and naive.

Learn from somebody who’s been where you are and who’s been where you want to go.

Bodybuilding is a strange subculture, and it’s easy to feel isolated.

It’s a world where it feels natural for guys to just stop walking, take down their pants, so they can check out and admire the development of their leg muscles.

    Don’t make my mistakes.

The choices you make now will affect your life for many years to come.

A lot of people write about the upper echelons of bodybuilding and the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness.

I wasn’t just another amateur weightlifter hanging around the gym looking for self-esteem and emotional validation through having bigger muscles. I was part of the elite inner circle., though I never got my own pro card.

I was a competitor, not a fitness model. I did appear in magazines as part of the sponsorship deal I had with a supplement company.

I know the top Mr. Olympia contestants.  I hung out with the guys who have millions of fans and followers. The best in the world, household names, used to come to my house.

I remember taking one friend to Columbus Ohio to compete in the Arnold Classic. I told him what he had to take to have a shot at winning, but he was afraid.

I wound up injecting him in the Men’s Room at the airport.  I sometimes wonder if the security cameras captured us.  But he got his pro card.

One woman I used to work out with has so developed her body that she gets $40,000 per sponsored post on Instagram.

So, people in the field still know me. I don't want anybody to believe I’m deliberately blowing the whistle on them.

I don't want anybody to get in trouble. And they’re adults. Some of them are making tremendous sacrifices for the sport, and I respect that.

I'm just sad that some of them don't realize just how much of their health – and their lives – they're risking.

Besides, there’s no need to call people out.

    Everybody knows what's going on.

    Wink wink. Nudge nudge.

A supplement company sponsored me. They were small when we started out together, but they've grown into a major brand.

They supplied me with the supplements I required.

    That stuff certainly helped me.

But what really packed on my muscle mass was LOTS of hard work.

    And anabolic steroids.

    Who This Book is For:

Of course, everybody who's interested in bodybuilding and muscle development.

And every athlete of any kind who is considering using steroids to enhance their muscle mass and sports performance.

I'm not going to lecture you or poke my finger in your face.

I'll give you my final opinion at the end of the book, once you
