- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5My son and I had a great time reading this comic. The Kung Fu part of the sandwich making was imitated immediately (thankfully not with actual food...yet) and the best parts (for my son) was always announced by a large 'Jieehah' exclamation of the Kung Fu Robot. There were a lot of more subtle jokes - I especially liked Marvin's sarcastic comments. And we both just loved the silly but mighty cute little ninja they finally 'adopted'. The style of the illustrations was different from the usual cartoon comics, with bright colors, expressionistic but also with a kind of retro touch to it which was much appreciated (especially by me). This book is definitely aimed at younger readers, however parents may have double the fun when experiencing the adventures of the Kung Fu robot together with their fascinated kid.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5A colorful graphic novel full of action but when looking closer at the illustrations and the story line there is not much that keeps this reader going. It takes our hero 30 pages to complete his first Kung Fu sandwich. The book is based on a free app which is promoted on the front of the book.Kung Fu robot is a superhero that lives by the idea that only a peanut butter and jelly sandwich can help you in a time of crisis. He has a sidekick named Marvin who is not always sure if Kung Fu’s plans are the best, especially since his mom warns him to not repeat the previous disaster. Like any superhero story there is an archenemy; Kung Pow Chicken who has his own army of ninjas to protect him. Those kids who like the app might be interested in the book too.The copy reviewed was a paperback format and the front of the cover came loose during the review period already.
