Scab Wilson was sitting on an old log, enjoying this wonderful sunny silly summer day. He dangled his legs

in the water and smiled goofily at the sun.

Spliff, my boy, he said to his best friend Spliff Martin , I think that this is going to one of those miracle days.

What? said Spliff, who was busily dangling his fishing pole out over the glistening pond.

They’d been sitting in the same spot (or setting, as Spliff’s  Grandpappy Soda Reinhardt would say) going on two hours now without so much as a nibble.

Not even a smidge of a nibble!

But of course they’d already invested that 2 hours and the moment they left – well, who knows what could come along just spoiling for an afternoon snack after they left??

No, if they left now, they would never know the beauty of a fish they could have had dangling off the end of that long pole!

There was a very real possibility that our friends Scab and Spliff might have gone on ‘setting’ this way until the end of time if Scab hadn’t suddenly swung down from his perch and slapped both hands against the sides of his well-worn jeans. 

It’s not right! said Scab out loud.

Ok, that scared me, Spliff admitted. I’m not going to lie to you.

I’ve been thinking, said Scab, frowning deeply and assuming ‘the stance’.
