About this ebook

Of all the wonderful promises God gives, the Lord is my Sheppard is one of the most gloriously one. He promises to set a table for us, spread wonderful food upon it, and then serve us a feast. We all know when God caters; it will not be just any ordinary meal; He will spread our table with food; escorts us to our seat where our enemies will sit on the outer boarder of the scene and watch everything unfolds. They watch in shock as we fill up our souls with heaven's delightful blessings.
No demon, including the devil himself, could ever comprehend this kind of love. They were sure God was going to strike you down for your failures, were prepared to stand over you gloating, as you fell into destruction, that unplanned pregnancy, failing marriage; those children getting out of hand; your drinking habit. Yet now they have been ordered to watch as you feast on food served by God himself. They're forced to observe how the Lord serves you; how He changes each and every situation; how He changes all the curses into blessings. “Thou prepare a table in the presence of my enemies”.

    DEDICATION

The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand.

The price of victory is high but so are the rewards. But in order to make dreams come into reality, it takes an awful lot of determination, dedication, self-discipline, and effort.

This book is dedicated to each and every one of us, to understand the power of the Word of God. To trust in Him completely because even though we may go through difficult and testing times in our lives, He is always with us; and that the ministry God has for us will be above and beyond anything we could ever have dreamed of.

    INTRODUCTION

The best known of psalms the Twenty third, was inspired by David’s work as a boy, for it describes a day in his life as a shepherd. In the morning the shepherd takes his crook (rod) and cudgel (staff), his sling and stones. He does not drive his sheep but calls them to follow him. He knows each of them individually and every one of their names. They trust him completely because they know that even though he may lead them through difficult and dangerous places, he will look after them. He guides them to rich grass, where they can lie down peaceful when they have fed, and to quietly flowing water, avoiding noisy mountain streams which frighten them.

The best pastures sometimes lie through ravines in the mountains, so dark and narrow that sunshine never reaches to their depths. Their gloom and cold terrify the sheep. But the shepherd cheerfully rattles his crook and cudgel against the rocks on their side, encouraging his sheep by calling out their names.

There are two dangers that the shepherd must particularly protect his sheep. One is poisonous herbs, which they cannot distinguish from good grass but the shepherd can, and he watches his sheep continually. If he sees one of them about to eat a poisonous plant, he calls it by name. Sometimes the plant looks so good that the sheep takes no notice of his warning. Then the shepherd quickly puts a stone in his sling and sends it hissing under the sheep’s nose to save it from its own stupidity.

Snakes are the other chief dangers. They lie almost completely covered in sandy hollows, such as those made by the hooves of animals in desert places through which the sheep sometimes have to pass. The shepherd, walking in front of his sheep, stirs the sand round with the end of his crook in places where the snakes may be hiding. If he finds one, he kills it with his cudgel, and the sheep follow in safely.

When, in the evening, the sheep return to the fold, the shepherd calls each of them to him in turn and, holding his crook level with the ground, makes everyone jump over it.

This shows him if any sheep is either lame or exhausted. He refreshes tired sheep by pouring oil on their heads and soothes their hurt by rubbing oil into scratches and cuts. Next, the shepherd fills large two handled bowl to the brim with cool water from a cistern which he always keep full. Beginning with the tired or hurt sheep, he gives drink to each in turn. He refills the bowl after every sheep has drunk to that none of them needs strain to reach the water. All of them have a cup which runneth over.

At last the working day is over. Sitting at the opening of his tent, the shepherd sees running towards him a man hunted by two others. They nearly catch him; but in desperation the fugitive hurls himself into the shepherd’s tent. The shepherd knows that his unexpected guest has killed someone, accidentally or intentionally. He knows, too, that his two pursuers are avengers of blood, probably relatives of the dead man, who have the right to kill the killer in turn.

But the Eastern law of hospitality forbids the killing of a man when he has taken refuge in another man’s home. The avengers must wait outside until the killer leaves the tent.

The shepherd sees even in this a picture of God’s loving-kindness. The Lord’s GOODNESS & MERCY are like two avengers of blood. We may fly from them because we do not understand God’s love. But they will drive us into the tent of the Good Shepherd Himself, and, by waiting for us outside, He will that we never leave. We are kept under His never ending Mercy and protection.

CHAPTER 1: HE PREPARES THE TABLE

When God is about to bless you by delivering what is yours, He first prepares you in front of your enemies which are your challenges, your own self, those who disrupt your life and many trials and tribulations of this world. He then presents to you what is meant for you according to His wishes not according to your wishes. Always remember that before everything, He puts you through the mixing process.

    Faith will see you through that process because without faith there will nothing coming your way. This process requires proper mixing; don’t rush. We have a tendency of rushing to get answers hence we end up receiving things that are not yet ready. When others receive theirs, be patient and have faith in God that He is working all things good for you. Don’t rush; wait for God to anoint you by putting oil in your hands to be able to receive the big things God has in store for you. One other important lesson to always remember, whatever little or small that you have received, it also comes from God;

Take good care of it by doing so, you are enabling God to trust you with big blessings. During the process, humble yourself. We have a tendency of receiving small blessing and we then forget people around us and worse we forget God who is the source of it all James 4:10 humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

This becomes a challenge which requires more faith because when God lifts you up, some people will turn against you; even those who are close to you. He removes even the things you trusted most; the people you relied on mostly. This is when God is the process of shaping you. There are those that you don’t need in your life and they will be automatically trimmed off your life.

The trimming process is also not the same for each and every one of us. John 15:1-17"I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.

You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.

Problems hit us but because of faith, we become strong on the outside whilst the Holy Spirit is at work within us. Fire or challenges is when even the closest people you trusted will just ignore you when you call for help and are not even willing
