I am a Paranormal Investigator who loves to write. I don't mind what topic, I'm just happy researching and writing. My "The Girl in the Shadows" series is loosely based on stories and experiences passed on by my father who grew up in rural Ireland during the 1940s and early 50s. I live in the Irish countryside surrounded by my pets and the beauty of the West Cork landscape. My interest in natural health comes as a result of living in such a beautiful, restful place.I have studied aromatherapy and worked as a sleep consultant with special emphasis on stress reduction. I have also studied forensic psychology and forensic science, both of which I find useful when evaluating paranormal investigations.

    The Ghost Hunt

Mike checked the gear one last time before he stowed it in the car. A glance at his watch told him that he would have to get a move on if he wanted to get to the location before the rest of his team. Grabbing his flask of coffee, he set off on what he hoped would be a night of adventure.

Arriving at the location, Mike parked and began the task of transferring the gear from the car to the locked gateway into the crumbling tower. Although it was known locally as the castle, it was actually a crumbling stone tower dating back to the 1600s. The roof had long since collapsed but the walls were fairly solid. The local community group who owned the site were in the process of renovating it and a lot of work had already been done. The group had allowed the ghost hunters the run of the castle for the night.

Mike opened the well-oiled lock and leaving the gate ajar, stacked the gear along with his precious flask of coffee, in a dry area on the ground floor. Looking up, he admired the stonework of the vaulted ceiling high above him. The middle floor was no longer in existence but the top floor - to the side of the area he was in - could be accessed by a stone spiral staircase.

Hearing the gate opening, he turned to greet his team.

Cat, green eyed and slim, was perfectly proportioned to squeeze into small spaces with her camera in tow. Harry with his love of technology, always with a new piece of equipment to try out. Rebecca, who sometimes felt things and was invaluable in pointing the team in the right direction during an investigation and Ron, who wasn't afraid of anything and was always at the forefront of the action.

    You all got here alright?

We did. We came in Ron's car. Are you here long?

No Cat, I just got here myself. Do you need a hand with your gear?

No, we have it. So, where will we start? Down here or up top?

I was thinking of starting here and making our way up. I want to check out that corridor where we got the cold spot the last time.

Right, boss! I've got this new sensor. It's much more responsive than the other one and I thought I'd set it up there now and see what happens while we investigate down here.

Good idea Harry! That's a nice piece of equipment. Rebecca, do you want to set up a motion sensor and a trigger camera up there too, while we set up down here?

    Yes, boss!

Less with the boss, guys! Come on, let's get started!

The investigation began as usual with the team introducing themselves and asking if anyone wanted to make contact with them.

We are only going to be here for a little while so if anyone wants to make contact with us, pass on a message or just let us know that you are here, then now is your chance.

The investigators kept an eye on the different equipment, recording any fluctuations and discussing the reasons for these. All was quiet within the building until Rebecca called out. "Henry! Henry! Is there a Henry here? Henry, if you are here, please come forward and make yourself known to us. Make a noise, shuffle your feet
