    1. Paranormal site

I led my team of four into an abandoned warehouse and pulled a borrowed utility cart loaded with equipment. Sam, a tall, skinny man with a ponytail, unrolled the floor plans for the warehouse. He looked at the first page of the plan with a small flashlight.

There's one large bay and two smaller rooms off to the south.

I brought the cart into the warehouse as I dodged the many haphazardly stacked drums. Then we should have just enough equipment to monitor the premises.

I put the trolley against the far wall. Sue and Patty started to set up a table. Sue stopped long enough to put her hair up in a ponytail. Patty, a Goth girl extraordinary, had no problem with her spiked, Mohawk hairdo. I helped Jerry set up a second table as Sam came over. He rolled the plans and put the band around them.

We unloaded the cases and computers as quickly as possible. The women set the computer equipment on the tables, the monitors went on one table, and the towers went on the other. As the workhorse of the team, the heavy lifting fell to me. It didn't bother me as I was used to this at the gym on my off time. The work was kid's stuff in comparison to that. I took two large cases and one medium one into one of the smaller rooms. There my task was to set the cameras up in the room to monitor any activity, but stopped and went back out to the bay area.

As I walked into the room, Sam stopped me. What's the assignment?

Mr. Stevens wants us to find out if there is any truth to the rumors of ghostly activity here. If there is, we need to clear it out.

What sort of activity, did he say?

He wasn't specific. But he made it clear there was a lot of it.

Sam and Jerry carried two containers to the other small room, while I grabbed two more. I returned to the first small room to start my task.

Here the odor from the barrels was less pronounced. The room was dimly lit. The cases were kept near the doorway where they were opened. The smaller one held four small cameras and tripods, the larger ones had several long cables. The first camera with its stand went to the near corner of the room. I turned on the camera to test it and noticed something move across the view finder. It moved too fast to tell what it was. I looked again and saw the movement again but in the opposite direction.

Quickly the second and third cameras were set in other corners. I checked to make sure the far corners were within camera range. There was motion on these cameras as well. But, again, the motion was too fast to tell what it was.

Movement was seen around the camera case. I went back to the case for the fourth camera, which was gone. It was soon revealed by the use of my high-powered, little flashlight. The fourth camera was found near the first. This one was quickly set in the last corner. I went to the other case and took out a cable roll. Several trips were made to run the cables to the cameras and then unrolled the cables to the case. Before I headed for the door, I hurried back to each camera and added power cords and plugged them into nearby outlets which I found with my small flashlight.

Once the four cables were together, I put the rolls on a bar and began to unroll them as I went back to the bay area with the others.

I continued to unroll the cables. I could use some help here. I have a lot of activity on the cameras.

Sam and Jerry came to my aid. They each took one of the cables and began to unroll it to the table set with disk drives and other computer equipment.

Sue turned on the computer, typed in a password, and soon a Windows screen appeared. She clicked on a thumbnail. It opened some software which allowed her to see four images, one for each camera.

Sue brought each image into focus. What about the other room?

I came around to table to look at the images. It will be taken care of shortly.

As we talked a large black mass entered the room and passed the windows to block out the light.

Jerry, the taller of the two thin men, looked up at the windows and pointed to the black mass. Do you see that?

I looked at Jerry and then followed where he pointed. See what?

Jerry stood still, as he pointed. See that black mass?

All of us looked where Jerry pointed. Suddenly the mass broke apart into five smaller masses, one came for each us. Then the barrels suddenly crashed to the floor around the room which startled us, followed by a beam that fell onto the table with the monitors that just missed things.

Sam watched the five dark figures move about the large room.I think someone wants us out of here. Let's get out.

Jerry watched them too. Sam has a good idea. Let's all get out of here.

I took several more cases. We're not done yet. We need to set up the sound and E.M.F. equipment plus more cameras.

Sue watched me pick up three containers. He's right. This stuff happens all the time that is why we get paid. We have to get it recorded.

Jerry picked up a fourth one. Sam came for yet another. He and Jerry went to set up the equipment in the first small room.

I took the second room and began to set up the cameras. There was continual activity in the view finders like before. As the four cords were connected to them, I suddenly felt very cold and saw a ghost form in front of me. I tried to ignore the ghost's presence, but continued my work.

The cords were unrolled to the computer table, while the form stayed with me as it floated just above the floor.

I unrolled a cable. Look, a ghost is following me!

The girls saw it too. It was a ghost of a prisoner in a white and black striped uniform. The ghost had long gray hair with a beard and moustache.

As Sam and Jerry returned, they saw it too. They went out around the aberration. They kept an eye on the ghost. What's this? Sam came to the tables.

I reached the computer equipment. This is a very active site. Did you set up in the second room too?

Jerry brought the leftover equipment. Yes.

I plugged in the cable to the hard drive. Good. As soon as things are set up we'll spread out in the building and see what we can gather. It'll be a long night.

Patty watched the screen anxiously. Can we just let the equipment do things tonight? I don't think we should be here.

Sam stood next to the table. Yeah! Sam backed away from the spook as it came close to him. Let's come back tomorrow and see what they do without anyone around to impress.

I looked at the screens a moment. There were so many shadows which darted about the rooms, I couldn't count them all. That sounds like an excellent idea. Let's go.

The black masses followed us out of the building.

Sue brought up the rear as we ran. They just want us to leave, Tom.

I ran out of the building.I agree, this is a lot more activity than at any of the other sites we've investigated.

As we entered the van, it began to shake and rattle. The black masses could be seen all around the outside the van.

Sam started the vehicle. Yes, we get the idea. Back off!

The van only calmed down once we drove away. The black masses did not follow beyond the parking lot. A lone mist followed the van and entered the back of the van unbeknownst to us.

Back at our office we went our separate ways. The mist followed me and hid in my trunk.

    2. Tom Faces a Poltergeist

I entered my apartment with my gym bag, locked the door, and headed to my desk, across the room between two windows. After I cleared a spot for it, I put my gym bag on the desk and then headed to the right for the bedroom.

Left the bathroom dressed only in shorts. With wet hair neatly combed, I threw my towel toward the dirty clothes, but missed. I did not bother to pick it up. The bedroom was partially lit from the street light outside. Laid on the unmade bed, tired and worried, I did not bother to move the blankets.

The mist entered the room from the living room. It worked its way to me. I felt a chill, grabbed some blankets, and drew them to myself. The mist covered me. It started to take the shape of a woman in 19th century clothes. She reached down and waved the covers off of me. I grabbed the covers to keep them over me but failed.

I awoke, sat up, and came face to face with the semi-solid woman. I tried to touch her, but my hand passed through her. The woman ran her hand down my chest. When she went too far, I tried to stop her. However, was unable to stop her exploration. I began to squirm as she ran her hand over my body. I didn't know quite what to do. Her alluring behavior made me feel uneasy. I knew I had to do something, but what?

I got off the bed and stood a moment to watch the woman. The woman became a much more modern woman. She had a modern red dress that did not cover much. She had red lipstick and long dark hair which made her look like a prostitute. Her perfume was strong and she came toward me as she tried again to seduce me, but kept her distance. She came at me as I backed myself into a corner. She became much more seductive in her approach. I resisted her advances; however, she came at me all the more. She pressed her body against mine and I felt myself tense even though she was not a physical person.

I stood nervously in the corner. Who are you?

I waited and then walked right through her and went to the living room. The woman appeared again in front of me. She started to try to seduce me yet again. I walked away, and then turned to face her. Go away! I don't want you!

The woman's expression changed from seduction to anger. She started to claw at me with her vaporous hand. However, I just walked away. When the woman vanished, I turned and went back to bed and tried to sleep, but tossed and turned most of the night.

Sometime later someone lay on top of me. I looked up and saw the same woman again. This time she had become a physical person. I quickly rolled to one side. The woman stayed on my bed.

    Where did you come from?

She only acted out she wanted me. The more I moved away from her, the more she came after me. I tried to sleep and ignore her advances.

About three in the morning, I got up and went back to the living room and went to my chair. There I sat and took a fitness magazine off the table. Began to flip through it and read some of the articles. As I read, the woman came and stood in front of me. She put her hands on her hips and pouted. I tried to ignore her, but she was very attractive.

Then she grabbed the magazine out of my hands. I grabbed it back and gave her a stern glare. She became one of the women from the magazine and struck a pose for me. I continued to try to ignore her. She tried to be very appealing, but I tried to pretend it did not faze me. I read on without a glance at her.

She became a large male bodybuilder and posed for me. Still, I ignored her. I did shake my head at her. She changed back into the 19th century woman. She sat on the couch and pouted.

After a while, she faded away. I turned out the light and went back to bed. All I did was toss and turn the rest of the night.

Woke up with the feeling someone was next to me. Rolled over, looked, and saw an old flame nearly forgotten. One with whom I was very intimate. The woman smiled as if she had been satisfied. I laid back, slapped my forehead and realized my dreams had been used against me. The woman changed back to the 19th century woman. I looked under the sheet and quickly let down the sheet. A look of shock came over me. Then I glanced down at the floor next to my bed and saw my shorts in a pile. I was angry at myself because I fell for her tricks.

    3. What Demon War?

I walked to a wall of mirrors in my gym. A man already exercised there with 100-lb dumbbells and watched me as I sat my bag down near the wall. I took out a towel and placed it over the back of an incline bench, then went to the racks, and picked up two 65-lb dumbbells.

The man stopped his exercise. Well, tally-ho to you too.

I started my routine. Oh, hello, James. Sorry, I didn't get much sleep last night.

James took his towel and patted sweat off his forehead. What's wrong, Chap?

I continued to alternate the dumbbells. I have a tough case. It's the Old Eisenhower Warehouse. We were run out by some ghosts and then I had one follow me home. Some early 19th century ghost kept me up most of the night.

James began to exercise again. Oh, sounds like you have much more to deal with than just ghosts. I think you should talk to Pastor Bob. He used to be a Wicca high priest. He can tell you what to do.

I continued to exercise. Oh great! He would have to bring up the subject.I'm not too sure about some Jesus person. They always try to convert you and tell you how bad you are. I know the routine. I once had one tell me I was a sinner for drinking coffee.

James huffed and puffed as he continued his workout, which only enhanced his heavy British accent. Oh, he's not bad. You'd like him.

    I'm sure I would. I thought sarcastically.

He doesn't pressure you into anything. But, he knows the subject very well. It couldn't hurt. Then he dropped the sales pitch.

James went to his 2012 London Olympics bag and pulled out a pad and pen. He wrote some information on it, tore off the page, and handed the paper to me. I put the weights down and took the paper.

James put his things back and sat on his bench again. That's his name, address, and phone number. It couldn't hurt to at least listen to what he has to say.

I looked at the paper. Well, all right, I'll give him a call.

James started to exercise again.That-a-boy. Is she cute?

    Who?

Is she cute? You know, -- the spook.

Lying, I said. Oh, I wasn't paying any attention. I just tried to get away from her.

I put the paper in my bag and continued to work out together; we spotted each other for the heavier lifts.

After the workout, I headed to the locker room. James stopped.

Would you like to stop for a bit to eat? It's my treat!

I thought for a few moments. Well, I should get to the office.

Oh, come on! It's nearly noon already. I know a health food restaurant nearby. You'd like the food. When was the last time you had a meal cooked for you? James started to guide me back to the main room.

Well, okay. But, it can't take long. I really need to show up at the office. I stopped my hesitation and went with him.

We arrived at the Mom and Pop restaurant and were seated by an attractive woman. She took a liking to James right off. It was hard to compete with a voice and body that James had. She handed out the menus and asked for our drinks. After we ordered our drinks she left to retrieve them.

James and I opened our menus and look them over. Don't worry about the price. It's my treat.

The prices seemed excessive to me. But, I guess they had to be to survive as a specialty establishment.

A salt and pepper haired man walked up to James. He was in a sport coat and slacks. James noticed him before me.

Well, hello. We were just talking about you at the gym. How are you, Pastor Bob?

I cringed a bit, but kept a pleasant demeanor.

I'm doing great! He placed a hand on my shoulder. Won't you introduce us?

Oh, sorry. James motioned to me. This is Tom Sanders. Tom, this is Pastor Bob. I told you about him at the gym.

Hello, it's nice to meet you, Tom. Pastor Bob reached with his other hand to shake. We shook.

Nice to meet you, too. I had to bite my lip on that. I wasn't really interested in the man.

I told Tom that you have experience in dealing with demons. He's gotten involved with some and is having some problems over at some warehouse.

He finally took his hand off my shoulder. Is that right? You know demons are real and we're in a war with them.

You don't say. I had to bite my lip again. When will this guy leave?

The man sat beside me and pulled a small black book out of his coat pocket. He flipped through some pages and stopped. First of all, they're not actually ghosts. Despite popular belief, they are demons who pose as the spirit of some past person.

    How do you know that?

Well, I've been on both sides of the demon war and was once friends with a few. They like to pretend to be the spirit of some dead person to get their way with someone. They even let you win to think you have some power over them or special skill. But, they're still there. And they do their dirty work again to someone else. It's not wise to mess with demons. They have more power than you or I could imagine. Is this by chance the old Eisenhower Warehouse?

    Yes.

I know it very well. Since, I used to be the high priest of a Wicca coven there. Those were the days when I didn't know any better. Now, I steer people clear of Wicca and the supernatural.

Wait, back up a little. What about this demon war?

In the Bible here. He showed me the page he had turned to. It was a pocket Bible.

A guy's gotta be weary of you. You're armed with a hidden Bible.

Now, this is the New International Version of the Bible and in Ephesians chapter six and verse12. It says 'For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.' It never comes out and says 'Demon War' but it describes it.

Pastor Bob held his Bible in his left hand and moved his left index finger down to hold his place.

These powers are demons who try to destroy anyone and everyone on earth. They promise power and good times, but once they have you, they turn on you and take you ever deeper into the darkness. He leaned toward me for a second. It's sort of when Darth Vader was taken over by the dark side.

So these demons are in the Eisenhower Warehouse? I had clear doubt in my voice.

Yes, we are told to stay away from them. You cannot over power them of your own power, but in the early church demons were cast out of people as proof of what the church said. Today, it is very seldom done. For the most part, stay away from them.

The server returned with our drinks and another menu. She handed it to Pastor Bob and left again.

I've banished these ghosts just fine without any help from any god.

He rested his Bible on the edge of the table. Like I said, it's the game they play. They want you to believe you have some power over them until they have you in their grips. Then, they take you over. It's in the Bible. He flipped through some more pages and came to his next passage. See here? He showed me the passage. Jesus said that there is a chasm between heaven and hell so no one can cross over. The same principle applies to a chasm between life and death. A spirit goes directly either to heaven to be with Christ or to hell to be with Satan. No one can stay on earth after death. It's not Scriptural.

Well, maybe your Scripture is wrong. I know a ghost when I see one. I've been successfully combating them for over 10 years now. My annoyance was starting to show through. So, I tried to change the subject a bit. So, how am I to get rid of them? I put the straw in my drink as did James.

You can't. Only God can evict a demon -- or a strong Christian with the faith to do it in the power of the Holy Spirit. A few have had the faith needed to do it with God's power. Pastor Bob pointed his finger at Tom. I would advise you not to get involved with a demon. You cannot fight them. If you cannot avoid them, make sure you have the full armor of God on at all times.

    What's that?

It's given to us right here. Pastor Bob used his finger to open the Bible again. Ephesians chapter six verses 13-18 in my favorite translation of the Bible, clear easy to understand, and often comes with footnotes. The passage reads 'Therefore, put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints. '

    That's a lot.

Pastor Bob looked at me. Yes, but, what you are up against is a lot more than you realize. Let's read it more closely to help you understand clearly. First, these are all defensive weapons. That means you are never to attack or fight the demons. That's why I say to stay away from them. The only weapon you can use offensively is the sword of the Lord, which is the Bible itself. That means you must know your Bible well and how to use it. Even Christ when He was tempted used only the Word of God to defend Himself. That's the way we should use it. So, you need to learn your Bible.

    "I don't even
