Chapter 1
Before Randy could even attempt to get up, one of the ski-masked intruders kicked him in the face. He shook it off and tried to get back up, but felt a hand on his back followed by a sharp, blinding pain in his stomach. Touching his stomach, he felt wetness. Looking at his hands, he saw blood. Randy heard someone standing above him laugh, and looked up to see one of the intruders holding a knife dripping with his blood.
Roaring with pain and anger, Randy grabbed the bastard by the ankle and, unable to get to his feet, he bit down as hard as he could on their leg. The intruder roared in pain and kicked Randy in his stomach, right on the knife wound. The wound exploded in pain and that was followed by another kick to his face, followed by some kicks to the ribs by a second intruder.
After a few more kicks from both, Randy could hardly breathe or move, and was sure he had some broken ribs to go along with his broken kneecaps. His vision was blurry, and he tried to sit up to keep fighting, but felt someone roughly put his arms behind his back and tie his wrists together. Then they grabbed him by the hair and forced his head up so that he was looking straight ahead. Next, they forced him up onto his swollen, broken knees. He grimaced and called out in pain, but they ignored him and put their forearm across his chest with their other arm, pinning him back against them. Randy blinked to un-blur his vision and his heart sank at what he saw.
Mallory and Lou were a few feet away from him, on their knees with their hands tied behind their backs. Both were sobbing with tears streaming down their face. Standing behind each of them were two masked intruders, both pointing a gun at the back of the head of his wife and his son. Mark, looking pale and anxious, was standing off to Randy’s right with the fourth ski-masked intruder, who was twitching an awful lot. Twitchy dropped the baseball bat he had used to crush Randy’s kneecaps, and suddenly took off his mask.
It was a man in his late twenties, with a bald head covered in tattoos, and with piercings all over his face. He had a long beard, shaped into four spikes coming off his chin. Looking at Randy, he smiled an evil smile, made all the more evil by his continuous twitching.
Mr. Hudson, sorry to enter so rudely but I had a feeling that if I told you politely outside that we were here to kill you and your entire family-
he chuckled and looked toward his co-attackers and then back to Randy as he continued, -you may not have let us in.
He walked over to Randy, keeping the satanic smile on his face.
When he got in front of Randy the smile disappeared and he quickly kicked Randy in the groin, hard. Randy moaned and shut his eyes. He was in so much pain he had no idea what to do. He could hardly think straight, between the broken bones and blood loss, he was feeling lightheaded and weak. Randy didn’t think he would be able to hold himself up if the intruder holding him let go. These bastards were going to kill his
