    Would you like me to give you a formula for success? It’s quite simple, really. Double your rate of failure. You are thinking of failure as the enemy of success. But it isn’t at all.     Transitioning away from being an employee in the corporate world to running a small business can be one of the most satisfying, rewarding, self-realizing and at the same time most terrifying things you can do in your working career.

    Why is that? Well, if your vision is big and you believe in what you are doing, more importantly yourself, you can achieve everything you want in life through the success of your business. If it fails, this can have quite the opposite effect on your life, depending on the magnitude of the risk involved.

    Why is it that so many business start-ups fail within the first couple of years, assuming they can get that far in the first place? Too many first-time entrepreneurs make big mistakes in the process of getting started. It’s no wonder that people are sceptical about going into business. Purely from the stats, the average person is doomed to fail if not equipped properly from the start.

    Having spoken to thousands of business owners over the years, it actually doesn’t matter what type of business you get into, there are simply some fundamental things you should do and some important things to avoid, so that you maximize your chances of success.

    In putting this book together, I came up with a list of over 50 different things one should do and similarly shouldn’t do; however I didn’t want to make this an academic exercise and confuse you with too many things to remember.

    Simplicity really is the key and therefore I have distilled my findings down to the Top 10, which I believe will be absolutely key differentiators between someone who is successful in their business and someone who is not.
