Why I Wrote This Book
For the last six years, I’ve been teaching workshops for various chapters of the Romance Writers of America (RWA). I’m often asked to present ideas for what I think might be good topics for future classes. Most the workshops I offer get into the nitty-gritty of some writing element such as point of view and run for four weeks. However, one day I thought I’d create one for students who haven’t yet decided if the romance genre is for them. And maybe even for writers who have already penned a romance story but just need a simple and easy guide that will cover some of the main topics. A new workshop was born and hence this mini-guide e-book that I hope you’ll find useful.
It won’t take you more than an hour to read but I hope it will act just as the title says, and be your step by step guide to putting together your first romance novel.
Some of the topics I’ll be covering include
Outlining your plot
Creating memorable characters
Conflict
How to write perfect dialogue
Narration and pacing
Sexual Tension
Conflict
Emotion
POV
Getting ready to submit, synopsis and cover letters
After each chapter there will be something for you to try that I hope puts you one step closer to saying I’ve just written my first romance novel.
