Introduction
Just a brief one, I promise!
This short book isn’t a detailed breakdown of how to format or publish your indie novel. Nor is it a book about the craft of writing romance. It contains ten short tips to help the eager beginner interested in turning their hobby of writing romance stories into a way to earn a living. If you have at least a little talent, lots of dedication, and are prepared to work hard at the business side of things, you too can make a decent (i.e., five- or six-figure) wage.
It’s not a get-rich-quick scheme. It will take time—maybe four to five years of publishing four to six books a year, if you can. Unless you’re very lucky, you won’t make a fortune by selling two hundred copies of one book every day (if you discover how to do that, please let me know!) Success is much more likely to come by slowly building your business and expanding your readership for those four to five years until you’re selling five to ten copies of each book on your backlist every day. It’s a marathon, not a sprint. And this book has a few tips on how to set off on that long journey.
