About Me and Why I Wrote This Book
I’ve been doing some sort of writing related work since the late 1980s. I first turned to writing as purely a hobby but then loved it so much I knew I had to find a career that would let me practice this passion every day. In 1989 I landed my first job in public relations and during the next fifteen years worked for three non-profit organizations and then spent three years as a publicist for a publishing company. After that I worked and still continue to work as a full time freelance writer. In 2008 I had my first fiction book published and since then under both my own name, and my pen name, Vanessa Devereaux, I’ve had seventy two books published. I’m also the author of several previous writing how tos.
Besides being an author I also love to share my knowledge of writing and publishing with others. I’ve been teaching workshops for about four years, and tutoring writing students for five. When I began teaching I thought I’d see different errors crop up in each student’s work, but I was wrong.
Beginning writers, and some seasoned ones too, make very similar errors. Some of them are small mistakes while others are more serious. Either way they’re things that often separate the writer who always gets rejected from the published
