What’s it about?
Although many people refuse to acknowledge it or choose to remain in ignorance about it, climate change is a very real threat facing humanity today. The threat it poses is in fact so severe that it could result in the complete destruction of the world as we know it. At the rate at which humankind is polluting the planet, scientists predict that we will soon face wide-ranging natural, economic, and social disasters.
The human race has persistently ignored climate change but time is running out. It is therefore imperative that we take action now. Our very survival as a species and the survival of the entire planet depend on our taking steps to confront this issue. Ironically, if we do step up to the plate and tackle this looming threat, it could prove to be a catalyst enabling us to change the world for the better.
The main stumbling block preventing the West from facing up to the crisis posed by climate change is that we are too used to pursuing the ideologies of neoliberalism
and extractivism,
which promote the belief that the earth is a resource to be exploited rather than
