The smell of something sweet caught his attention and he did his best to follow his senses to the source. It originated at a bush with plump, colored berries and thorns that scratched at his arms as he tried to reach in to get at the delicious smelling fruit. He tried different angles and different bushes, hoping one would let him at the berries without tearing at his arms. Cursing in frustration, he stepped back to consider the bushes again when a sound caught his attention.

Something was moving on the other side of the bushes.

Hal was thinking about running when the source of the noise stood up and looked over the bushes at him. It was a man. Nearly a foot taller than Hal, he had shaggy brown hair, muscles in places Hal hadn't known a person could have defined muscles and a thick layer of hair on his arms and chest.

Hello, the man said, his voice a deep rumble that made Hal's stomach quiver. Having some trouble?

Hal nodded, not sure he could speak.

They're easier to get at from this side. You'll have to go around, though, if you want to avoid the thorns.

Can you show me? Hal asked, his voice trembling.
