This is a work of fiction. Any resemblance to persons, living or dead, is a coincidence.

    Chapter 1

Howlin' Wolves had been playing the Colorado Mountain Faire for as long as they had been a group. Mark and Aaron had met in college and realized right away they were both odd in the same way. Aside from turning furry under the full moon, they didn't work well within the pack structures they'd been raised in. The constant fighting and struggles for dominance had forced both of them to make a break from their packs and form their own. At the moment, theirs was a pack of two but they were constantly looking for a third who might fit.

The sound of laughter brought Mark's head up. It wasn't an odd sound to hear at the mountain festival but the musical quality of the laugh demanded his attention. His jaw dropped as he caught sight of her.

Long brown hair with honey highlights from the sun framed a face that seemed to radiate joy. The trees that shielded the backstage area from the trail obscured everywhere else but he couldn't help but imagine what the rest of her body looked like. The flush on her cheeks made him think she'd have soft, creamy skin, large breasts and wide, rounded hips with an ass big enough to grip and nibble.

Taking a deep breath to try and catch her scent only left him with the smell of pine and a whiff of something sweet. He needed to get a better scent, a better idea of what she looked like, if only to imagine her later.

Her eyes lit up as she replied to whatever her companion was saying and she moved away from the gap in the trees.

Hey, Mark, Aaron called. Earth to Mark, are you done yet?

Yeah, all ready. I'll be right back, Mark stood and ran out of the staging area.

We're on in five minutes, where are you going? Aaron called after him.

I have to see where she went.

Aaron sighed. Of course Mark would be chasing after a girl before they went on stage. At least he'd stopped doing it while they were performing.

Mark jogged back in while Aaron gathered the rest of his instruments. Find what you were looking for?

I lost her, even her scent was muddled by the crowd, Mark shook his head. She must have gone into one of the food tents nearby.

Maybe she'll come to the show, Aaron suggested, not really paying attention.

I hope so. She's definitely someone I'd like to see more of.

Is she really that pretty? His ears pricked up a bit more. He and Mark had similar tastes in women and any girl Mark thought was worth pursuing was usually worth a long look.

I don't know, Mark said, getting ready to go on stage. I didn't see enough of her.

With that cryptic answer, he led the duo on stage for their final show of the day.

The festival musicians were slowly gathering at the Kings Tavern and the energy in the air was infectious. Lorelei found herself bouncing on the balls of her feet while she waited for her turn to order.

Trying to unobtrusively catch the bar wenches eye, she felt like she was taking up too much space as the bar began to fill. It was the costumes fault, she decided. It made her already large breasts enormous and seemed to emphasize her hips.

By the time the bar wench got to her, the noise in the tavern was difficult to hear over. Pantomiming her order got a grin from the woman serving her. The cup of cider she received was filled to the brim and she was trying to sip some off before she moved away when she felt a sharp elbow jab hard into her back. Managing to avoid spilling her drink on her dress, she rounded on the man behind her.

    Watch it, she snapped.

The man who'd elbowed her turned to see who he'd run into and Lorelei was certain she was about to swallow her tongue.

I am so sorry, the blond god said, his brow furrowing in concern. Are you alright?

Yeah, I'm fine, you just almost made me drop my drink. I think I got some on my shoes, she stuttered out.

Well, we can't have you losing your drink, he smiled. Are you here for the jam session?

Actually, I'm waiting for a friend. I thought the faire was closing.

It is but they won't shut the tavern down until the musicians are ready to leave. Stay for the jam session and your next drink is on me.

Lorelei flushed. She'd never been invited to stay for something or had a drink paid for by a perfect stranger. I'd like that, she said and he smiled.

Excellent. I'm Aaron, by the way, he said, offering her his hand.

    Lorelei, she replied, taking it.

Well, it is a pleasure to meet you, lovely Lorelei. Make sure to sit by the stage so you can hear us. He lifted her hand to his lips and gave her a wicked grin. She saw his nostrils flare before he let go.

One of the other musicians came and tugged on Aaron's sleeve, his gesture indicating he was wanted on the stage. Lorelei was grateful for the distraction and hoped the blood that had rushed to her cheeks and between her legs would move to her brain soon.

Making her way to the tables by the stage, she noticed the crowd got quieter as the musicians all began to tune. Some discussion seemed to be going on between everybody on the stage, nodding heads indicating an agreement, then a fast beat broke out
