Lauren Sands stood outside the Stars Amphitheater, waiting for the doors to open with thousands of other people. Her favorite heavy-metal band, Dragon's Fire, was there for one night only, and she'd gotten a ticket!

Of course, she'd had to buy them six months in advance, and pay three times more than any other concert she'd ever been to, but it was worth it. She'd have paid a lot more to see Raggs on drums, Hermes on electric guitar, Landon on bass, Churl on keyboard, and her all-time favorite vocalist, Torch.

And, as if being at the concert wasn't enough, she'd heard that sometimes, if they were in the mood, the band would select one person from the audience to come backstage for a short time after the concert. Her stomach flipped just thinking about it. Just imagine, she thought, to be able to sit down and talk with the guys, even for ten minutes...

She'd even dressed up just in case, wearing a tight red dress that hugged her curvaceous form and made her light blonde hair- pulled back into a sleek ponytail- and bright blue eyes pop. Admittedly, the dress might have been too much, a little too tight, especially across her breasts, but she only had this opportunity once, and didn't want to under-do it.

She sighed out loud, imagining how awesome it would be, then looked quickly around to see if anyone had noticed. Most of the other people there were with friends, though, and not paying her any attention.

Finally, after three hours of standing, the doors of the amphiteater opened, and she filed inside with the rest of the Fire-ites. She handed over her ticket, got back the stub, then moved into the more open area where concessions were. Planning to thoroughly enjoy herself, Lauren grabbed a drink from one of the many mini-bars set up along the strip, then made her way into the amphitheater itself.

She moved slowly down the stairs with the crowd, patiently waiting as those in front of her slid into their rows. Gradually, the group in front of her thinned out, moving faster and faster, until she was at the front of the line and heading for the very first row, dead center of the stage. From there, she'd be able to see the sweat on every member of the band.

She sat and sipped her drink while the amphitheater filled, while the row around her did the same. But when the lights fell, she got to her feet, along with thousands of other people, and cheered as the leather-clad band took the stage and the music started. Then she cheered louder.

It was the greatest show she'd ever seen, with fire geysers and laser lights and fireworks everywhere. The music was hard and loud, the fans just as avid as she, and the band seemed to truly enjoy what they were doing, giving it their all instead of phoning it in like some did when they'd been popular for a decade.

They played her favorite ballad, Fire Heart, almost last, and she sang every word and stared right at Torch. A couple times, he looked directly at her as his grass green eyes scanned the crowd, and her heart melted into a puddle in her chest.

Finally, after two glorious hours, they played their last song, and Lauren expected them to clear the stage while the lights came up.
