Helping Harry

I don’t know what first drew me to Harry. When I started volunteering at the Glen Ellen Vocational Academy (GEVA), an equine rehabilitation and retirement foundation and sanctuary in Northern California, the temperamental old racehorse certainly wasn’t a favorite among the volunteers. A 1997 foal by Restless Con, out of Edna by Siyah Kalem, Harry had 21 racing starts under his belt before retiring—along with the emotional baggage that sometimes comes with horses off the track.
