    Dedication

To Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior for your grace that is so sufficient.

To my mother Joyce Gail, grandmother Phyllis Mashore, aunts Lillie B. Gail and Vernelle Hewlett, Thank you all for believing in me when I didn’t feel like believing in myself. Thank you for encouraging me to reach for the limit. Sometimes I use to wonder why you all would see so much in me. It was hard not to try to be successful and different with you all breathing down my neck, what’s next, where are the books, when is the movie coming out? Years rolled by and it was always the same questions. So here you are, Juvey my newest invention.

To my kids, Quan and Lil Larry, I will always love you both no matter what obstacle you will have to face in this life. You both will always be my inspiration. You have made life worth living and striving for. Without you I probably wouldn’t have wanted to do half of the things that I have done.

To my brothers Lamont and Jamon, even though we lost Dorez with all of our good memories he is still here in heart and spirit. Don’t be sad he served his purpose and he lived everyday of his life doing whatever he wanted to do. We are still able to say we had a brother that was funny and loving at the same time. He was our comedian and no one can really take him away if you hold on to that which was dear.

To his triggerman I forgive you, I know the product that some of our environments can make of us. I know what it is like to pick up a gun and shoot it. We never know if the person we shoot will live or die because I don’t believe that he would have died if it were not his time. My only prayer for you is that you come to know Jesus and that he allows you to have a second chance. Everybody doesn’t need to be in jail. I know you got a chance to see what the event did to my family as you stood at the other end of the corner at the visual. I don’t believe you got a kick out of that. Everything is fun and games until reality strikes and it becomes serious. Maybe one day you will save another kid from taking someone else’s life. We all have done something that someone else didn’t like that’s why I can say these things to you. Best Wishes

To my cousins, Shantra, Wanda, Neek, Co-Co, Jamiyah, Shameeka, Direka, Tee-Tee, Lil Moma, Weed, Felix, Fronz, Tae, Deek, Shawny, Nicole and there are so many more, too many to name. Thank you all for being my personal little cheerleaders. You all love me to death and would do anything to see me succeed. I wouldn’t trade my family in for nothing in this world. I love you all.

To my nieces and nephew, Jazmine, Kate, Nae-Nae, Mondre, Zonique and Lil Rez I love you all so much.

To Pudding, Rashid, Kevin and Rahmel, Godchildren are a blessing.

To my cousin Scanita, much success as a new author, I look forward to seeing you on the Essence bestseller list.

To my friends Sharon Anderson, Markeita Boyd a.k.a Sis Hope, Starlette Louis, Shelly Mosely and wow I’m going to stop name-calling before I get into trouble. I have so many friends, thank you all for your endless support and conversation. If I said it you believed it, even though stuff can seem a bit far- fetched with me.

To Laverne Johnson, thank you for all that you have done for my family throughout the years.

To Larry, keep your head up and stay strong your time is short now.

To Natasha a.k.a Duck, you were my true support for the origination of Juvey from the beginning to the end. You motivated and pressured me to get it done. We did a lot of parking lot talk throughout this project. Thank you for all of your advice. I look forward to helping you with your new book. You have great ideas ready when you are.

I have to thank my promotional team Tiffany Perry and Lashawn for being my walking billboards it takes a lot to wear another hood on your body and be proud of it. Thank you for wanting to see me succeed. Hopefully that can begin a break in hood beefs. They live in Creighton I’m from Mosby that’s what’s up. Tiffany thanks for all of your input on this project as well.

To Crystal and Rashid, thank you for being my walking bookstores. Your sales skills are tremendous and very much appreciated.

To Manky, thank you for driving me around when I needed to type this book and take care of business. I appreciate the friend I have in you.

To my little angels, Chelsea, Shaniqua, Nu-Nu, Ree-Ree, Kierra Bailey, Charkeisha, Destiny, Meesha, Roshay, Alexis and wow I could never name all of you. Thank you all for encouraging and motivating me always to do. Your faith and belief in me always inspired me to want to make something happen for all of you. You all have so much talent don’t ever let it go to waste.

To Lil Ralph, Rashad, Teondre I love you guys.

To Elpinchino and Peter, thanks for all of your support and encouragement good friends are always needed. I thank God he allowed me to meet the both of you.

To the entire cast of my film Girls In Da Game, thank you for all of your endless support and dedication. With out you it could not have been done. I enjoy watching every hour and twenty-four minutes of the film. Words can’t express my sincere gratitude. Girls In Da Game coming soon!

To all of the prisoners everywhere, that is not your end be encouraged always. There is always a light at the end of a dark tunnel.

To my Pastor, Dr. Lance D. Watson who allows God to use him unconditionally no matter what people say or think. You always say what people think of me is none of my business let the haters hate. Thank you for messages like You Want To Bet, I’m Still In The Game, You’re Going To Get A Lot Out Of It and Of course You’re At War! Most of all, thank you for allowing people to be themselves and to come as they are. You have truly allowed God to use you to draw in most of my family members and all of my friends and I have a lot of them. They all accepted Jesus Christ and joined the St. Paul Baptist Church Family in which you serve so wonderfully and for that I am grateful. I have never brought anyone to your church that was not pleased and purposeful when they left. From the kids to the grown folks they all appreciate the God in you. In order to understand my gratitude you would have had to taken some folks some places where God was not apart of the program. The kids think you need a rap CD they say you rap better than the rappers you imitate doing some of your sermons.

To my First Lady Rose Watson, Thank you for allowing Pastor Watson to do all that he does without being selfish. I know it must be a difficult task to endure some of the stuff that comes along with having a man of such magnitude as your husband. May God bless and forever keep you. May he give you all the desires of your heart for your endless labor.

To The St. Paul Baptist Church Family, Thank you for allowing God to use you all to see this great man’s vision come to pass. Without you his road would have been a little harder. May the favor on his life trickle down to yours as well.

To all of my friends and associates, I thank God for everyone that he has allowed to come my way. All of my friends are a blessing.

    Chapter 1

    The Introduction

Juvey friend Gangster died today, January 1, 2006. No one really knew what happened. Friends said the police killed Gangster but come to find out, someone from his hood set him up. Seconds before his death, Gangster and two of his friends were stopped and harassed by two police officers. The black police officer sent Gangster in one direction and the white police officer sent Gangster’s friends in the other direction. After the encounter with the police officers, shots were fired.

Witnesses said the police stood over Gangster with a pump. Police said it wasn’t true; someone else shot Gangster. Why would someone make up a story like that? They went as far as to say they watched the police kill Gangster, when actually it was someone from his hood. I wish my mom would just move. Things were getting wicked.

The police was always afraid of Gangster and they really didn’t know what to do with him. Gangster beat so many cases people thought he was the police. Juvey and I knew different, we were always in court with Gangster. I never wanted to go to court with them but Juvey didn’t have a driving license. The police knew Gangster and Juvey really well.

I would pray Juvey’s car didn’t get shot at while I was driving. Drive by’s, were all so familiar. At any moment it could be a shoot out. I wasn’t scared, I just didn’t like the drama of the drive by’s. To me, they were senseless. Drive by’s never had any meaning to me.

One time the police tried to stop Gangster after a drive by in our neighborhood but Gangster ran into my neighbor’s house. The police wanted him so bad they ran in behind Gangster without a search warrant. The police knew Gangster carried a lot of guns. Why he needed to carry more than one gun I will never know.

That day Gangster went down. He had two nines, a pump and an ounce of heroin on him. My neighbor was evicted and banned from public housing forever. The police couldn’t make an arrest of any kind involving drugs or guns in public housing. That to me was so unfair, my neighbor didn’t even know what had happened.

Gangster beat the case but the lawyer charged him fifteen thousand dollars. Everyone was sure Gangster was down this time he had just beat two murder charges.
