The following week passed agonizingly slowly for Martin. He had to work every day, and pulled a double on Tuesday. He made a habit of never turning down work; once he started college in the fall, he wasn't sure whether he could keep the job or not. Before long, he was pleased to find that Friday had finally come. He had been on the job longer than most of the others his age, and that at least allowed him the luxury of not having to work weekends, so he made sure to have this Saturday off. If he were going to spend the night at Paul’s place after the big party, he didn’t want to have to rush to work Saturday morning.

He’d had to come up with an excuse to stay out all night for his parents. He hated to lie, but he didn’t think they were ready to hear the whole story about how he was gay and spending the night with another man. He wasn’t afraid to tell them, but...
