Proverbs Daily Devotional 3 - Mike Little

    1 - Seek ye First . . .

Proverbs 11:27 He that diligently seeketh good procureth favour: but he that seeketh mischief, it shall come unto him.

Message: The one who seeks good finds delight; the student of evil becomes evil.

Affirmation: I look for the good in everyone and in every circumstance. Jesus put me where I am to do something. I seek His will for me before moving forward!

What are you looking for? Why are you here? Many people feel this way about each other and even themselves. So many of us have no idea where we are headed and how to get there. Even Thomas, the disciple, asked Jesus, How can we know where You are headed; we don’t even know the way. But Solomon knew the answer long before the Messiah came; he knew that seeking good and doing one’s best was and remains the only answer. If we expect only the worst to come to us, it will. Expect God to be working in you and for you, and it will happen!

Expectation drives a lot of God’s work; if you see yourself or your effort as wasted, you expect to fail. If you complain about situations rather than seek the cause and fix, you will waste away complaining. If you seek riches, fame, and glory for yourself, you will become self-seeking and will be of no use to anyone but yourself and Satan. We all would like riches and fame, but they are just part of the blessings God offers us for seeking His will. Do it today, forget about self and seek Him.

Heavenly Father, oft times I find myself wondering exactly how and why I got in a situation. I see people who need help (whether they deserve it or not doesn’t matter), and I act out of concern for self. I wonder what someone will think of me, or how they will take advantage of me. I have no reason to feel this way if I seek You and Your guidance. Show me how to meet these situations where I will not have to fear for my safety or my family. Help me to seek You and Your will in all I consider doing. In His service,
