    ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

    ––––––––

Thank YOU GOD, for the loving and supportive family YOU gave me. And for those that believed in me along this journey. To my amazing mother and teacher, I would like to say that I love you and thank you for al- ways believing in me. To my oldest son, thank you for remembering that not even death can separate us, I love you.

    LET'S BEGIN

    ––––––––

Living in the now-In order to have a successful tomorrow one must understand the importance of living in today. More often than not we find our- selves planning for tomorrow which inadvertently prevents us from operating one hundred percent in our opportunity. Did you know that our outcome of today is determined by our acceptance of yester- day? The key word in this sharing is day I’ve learned to take full advantage of my today for when night comes no man can work, in this case night is yesterday. A wise person once said depending on what you planted yesterday will determine the fruit that you will bear today. With that being said, it behooves us to have an understanding of the plant- ing process in order to be able to recognize the fruit that’s produced. To know this is to suggest that it’s within our ability, power and might to determine how our today will be. I truly believe if a person think of themselves to be something whether posi- tive or not it shall reveal itself over time. In my opinion, in order for us to stop operating in our in- decisiveness we must first have an understanding

of who we are. Especially when seeking out the bounties of life. Grievously most of us will work only to satisfy ourselves due to greed and the infa- mous fear of being taken advantage of by someone of our choosing. These anxieties imprison us in a world of self –indulgence and loneliness. For some of us these behaviors ultimately lead to a mindset of paranoia which in most cases prevents us from having positive relations which inadvertently works against the preservation of humanity and the natural order of our species. I sincerely believe that our lives are not just for us to enjoy, it’s also for those that are connected to us. Therefore it’s our responsibility to share our beautiful and amazing self. Embracing this wonderful truth as I know it to be will allow us to properly administer to the needs of those that are attached to us which pre- vents overdosing them with time spending and the giving of monies. It also prevents our friends and loved ones from becoming dependent which is a form of addiction. I’m sure some of you can relate to overstepping in our giving to the point where the individual becomes more dependent on you and less on themselves. I strongly believe in aiding my fellowman, yet I also believe in sharing some of the reasons why some of us suffer from the not enough syndrome. Consider this, if a person is tired of dealing with the lack thereof, maybe it would be beneficial if that person seek out someone that is

higher than themselves in order to learn how to possess the necessities of life. Once learned, that person can adequately defeat the need factor which leaves only the want. Oftentimes, we run into re- lational situations or problems when we mishandle our financial capital irresponsibly in the capacity of purchasing what we want instead of taking care of our responsibilities. This is called the spirit is will- ing but the flesh is weak syndrome. The symptoms are uncontrollable spending and a need to make up excuses for not having the money to address your personal accumulation of debt or acquired pur- chases. Sadly, once our flesh has become inebri- ated with the act of selfishness, we forget all about the need factor until our high has subsided. Just as a con-artist does after he/she has successfully ex- posed and humiliates its victims which leaves us ashamed, embarrassed, sometimes withdrawn, feeling less than and still with a need. Here’s a few words to live by, wanting something never fulfills the need of one's mental soundness. And in this case, soundness represents one's peace of mind. Question, if we are constantly seeking after the things in which we want, how is it possible for us to be stabilized with the things that we need. As long as we’re pursuing what we want, we’ll never possess what we need. It behooves us to be trust- worthy when it comes to meeting our need require- ment so to prevent the lack thereof. Because a want

is a cousin to greed and as we know greed is an appetite that can never be satisfied. And knowing this is the difference between yesterday and today. Lessons- I have a question, if we're living in yes- terday and psychologically planning our tomorrow what gets done today? Believe it or not removing yourself from those that are desirous of trouble and mischief improves our chances at achieving our goals in life, today. I often revisit some of my mother’s life’s lessons concerning the importance of living in the present. I recall her urging us not to live in our tomorrow for tomorrow will take care of itself. Therefore why concern ourselves with yesterday or tomorrow because yesterday is gone, tomorrow has yet come. In my opinion, it would be wise for us to operate in our today because yes- terday represents night, translation it is gone and there is no work for us to do in it today. Without question, we’re robbing ourselves of the now expe- rience if we’re contemplating on the probable events of maybe. In knowing this truth lets us take no thought for tomorrow. For tomorrow is not promised. I was visiting a friend over the summer, while there he and his parents were having a dis- cussion regarding life. Needless to say that he thought more of himself than one should. With a calm yet purposeful voice his father shared with him that it’s best to humble yourself because think- ing that you know, is the beginning of not knowing

anything at all. During their interaction I was asked if I believed in God or a higher power and I shared that I did. Then I was asked if this God or higher power ever communicated with me at any time in my walk. I shared personally I’d like to think that the inner voice that some call a conscious is the voice that I believe to be God. Curiously, they asked if I could describe the difference be- tween what I interpret
