    INTRODUCTION

Moment after moment, everything is emanated from within the Absolute. So everything is made of the same basic substance. Through our connection to the Source, we are all one, all interconnected and interrelated. Existence is one whole unity. Nothing can be separated from it. The manifested universe is simply the relative aspect of the Absolute, and when that connection isn’t forgotten, even the relative is real.

In order to know reality, we must be real. To be real, we have to let go of imaginary separation, concepts, self-limitation, classification, and identification. Only when we are as we are in reality can we see things as they really are.

The writings in this book are very simple. If you connect to them in simplicity, you’ll have no problem relating to what you read. Come to the atmosphere of each page. That atmosphere is within you as well. When you read these writings, you are filled up with an inner resonance, because their reality and meaning are in you as well as all around you. When you hear the Truth, you also hear it inside of yourself, in your very essence. You don’t need your mind to come in and ask you should I believe that or not? Because it’s not something that requires belief. It’s your very own existence. The Truth is not something foreign. It’s already a part of you just because you exist! Let go of your identification with your form and name and shape for an instant, be present, and you’ll see that you are not separated from the Totality. Don’t take yourself as Mr. or Ms. Somebody, and think that’s the whole ballgame. Just the way a shadow tells you the sun is shining, any manifestation is telling you that Existence exists. There’s no need to imagine yourself separated. Live your life, but don’t forget the Source.

Why place so much emphasis on being present? Because your Being participates in your life only in the present. You cannot find Being in the past or future. Your Being is what connects you to Being-ness, to God, to Existence, to Unity.

In Unity, it’s easy to see that the separate you you think you are doesn’t exist. There’s no such thing! That you is a concept which your mind has separated from reality. So forget about what you think of yourself. The real you is not in your thoughts. It’s in Existence.

Can you take a glass of water into your mind? You can’t. You can only take a thought of it. The world you take into your mind is just an image, a picture of life, but not the reality of it.

So what should you do to come to reality? Discover that there is something other than this thinking mind—your Being. How can you distinguish one from the other? Very simply. The mind can’t produce taste. Your Being has a taste. Pick up an apple. You can think about the taste of it till doomsday, but you will never know how it tastes. But when you take a bite, when the juice is on your tongue, that’s the moment you’re not thinking apple, you’re tasting apple.

When something is really happening, you don’t have to think about it to know it. You don’t have to think to know it’s a sunny day. But to see how it was yesterday, or what it’ll be like tomorrow, you think. Ordinary thinking always goes to the past or the future. But when you are present, thought has a new dimension. Your mind is no longer a closed box. It is open to receive light from Consciousness. Your Being participates, and your thinking, instead of draining your energy, makes you more alive, more connected to the magic of life. All you need is to clear room in yourself to be receptive. The rest will be given.

The first base in our universal journey, the first place where you can receive a taste of reality, is the body that’s your temporary home (although your is-ness is permanently at home in the entire cosmos). You have to come home, and taste your existence in it. Only then can you say for certain that you have a body. Because you’ve come to the is. There is a body. Now one thing is for you, one thing that you know for sure. You don’t need a book to tell you. You don’t need a teacher to tell you. You don’t need anyone to tell you, because you can tell yourself directly by tasting it.

As you come to rely more and more on taste, your tastes deepen, and you experience life in your body. Not only is there a body, there is life. Once you taste that life in yourself, then you know that you exist. You know that the Totality exists. And you see that you and the Totality are not separated. You enter into Unity, and become what you were meant to be—a particle of the Absolute, inseparable from the Source.

To be who you are, you
