Chris pulled up the collar of his coat to shield his face from the cold wind as he stumbled along the dimly lit street. Even though it was past 11:30 at night, and Chris was suitably inebriated, the weather still felt unseasonably cold. It was late November, and it hadn't started to snow yet, but the bitter cold wind and well below freezing temperatures of the past few days made it seem like winter would start any day now.

A beer flavoured burp erupted from the pit of his stomach and out of Chris's mouth. Chris laughed to himself and looked around to see if anyone else was in earshot. Thankfully, no one was, and a wave of sadness wiped his drunken smile away. He was alone, totally and utterly alone. Again.

It was hard being alone. Four years together was significant. And even though his friends took him out to get him drunk after she dumped him, Chris still felt the pain and isolation of being rejected by the love of his life.

Chris kept walking as he thought about his ex girlfriend Katelyn. Her long flowing auburn brown hair and the way it framed her beautiful, lightly freckled face when she left it not tied up. Her trim, athletic figure, her supple tits and her slender legs. Her beautiful, deep blue eyes. He missed all of those things. Tears started to well up in his eyes as he thought about how he might never see those things again.

It had been two weeks since Katelyn dumped him. Two long, agonizing weeks. They were a blur actually, partly because Chris could hardly focus after Kate left him, walking around in a daze, like he was stuck in some horrible dream world where nothing seemed real anymore. And part of the reason why the last two weeks were a blur was Chris spent as much of that time drunk as he could.

Chris's friends were really supportive during after the break up. They took him out, got him drunk, do all the things good guy friends do. But after a few days they stopped coming out with him. They had to, they had jobs and regular lives they had to attend to. Chris didn't though, in fact the only way he could get any sleep these past two weeks was to drink himself to sleep. He even took time off from work to deal with his broken heart and stay as inebriated as possible, even if he had to do it by himself. Which is why he was alone tonight, stumbling home in the dead of night, in the freezing cold, on a Tuesday.

Chris finally arrived back at his apartment. He stumbled up to the front door and fumbled his keys into the lock with his numb hands. After the third try Chris made it into the warmth of his building's front lobby and pressed the button for the elevator. He made it up to the sixth floor, stumbled down the hallway to his front door. Chris fumbled the keys in the deadbolt lock of his apartment door. He finally fit the key into the lock and entered his apartment.

Chris rented a sparsely furnished one bedroom apartment. It was a typical boy’s apartment, plain white walls without much artwork or decorations. The living room adjacent to a small kitchenette only had an old, hand-me-down couch and coffee table set up in front of the television, and the kitchen sink and counter top were covered in dirty dishes and used pots.

Chris stumbled in through the doorway, letting the front door slam behind him. He dropped his
