Dreams Do Come True

About this ebook
It is my long held belief that we should not only be happy in our chosen vocation but also be doing what it is the Lord has gifted us to do. We all deserve to feel like we are successfully participating in a common cause, that we are accomplishing something meaningful and that we are fulfilled in the process. We not only get our life’s energy from the people we meet and the relationships we maintain, but we also come alive in living a life which is scripted in line with the skills, the qualities and the attributes given to us and ultimately designed by God. Dreams do come true if we first understand the substance of our beings and then take the risks associated with living our lives and pursuing our dreams to their ultimate potential. The key is to discover your skills and then figure out how you can best use these qualities in the most effective and productive ways. True happiness lies in excelling in that which you are gifted and talented to do. Your dreams will come true if you begin to seek a path that allows for your personal human qualities to be utilized in pursuing your dreams.

After having worked in and around academia for the majority of my career, I have been witness to many learning experiences throughout my time here. Many people come to academia with a desire to learn, but they don't always know what it is they are seeking. Some seem to think they have to pick an area, get the degree and then the job and then the paychecks will start rolling in. Others spend their entire career in a field where they are not valued and satisfied. Few people spend the time discovering their qualities and skills and then follow path based on who it is they really are; who God created them to be. I primarily write within this space, how to get to where God wants / needs us to be. I also write true to life short stories which reveal our true human nature. Writing in truth, or what the Greeks refer to as Alethia(ἀ–λήθεια - in Greek) - the realm of truth, necessarily guarantees an authentic quality. Read my stuff if you are a core believer, know about the formal system or simply desire to discover truth in it's purest form.

Above all, I attribute this book to God. He has given me a number of gifts which make it relatively easy for me to discern what I believe He wants for us to accomplish in this world and how to go about carrying out the personal development plans He has for our lives. He has given me the gift of composition so that I may craft for you a written work that you may use to begin to discover who He has created, in you. This book is all about you!
Introduction
To thine own self be true.
- Polonius, Hamlet Act 1.3
It is my long held belief that we should not only be happy in our chosen vocation but also be doing what it is the Lord has gifted us to do. We all deserve to feel like we are successfully participating in a common cause, that we are accomplishing something meaningful and that we are fulfilled in the process. We not only get our life’s energy from the people we meet and the relationships we maintain, but we also come alive in living a life which is scripted in line with the skills, the qualities and the attributes given to us and ultimately designed by God.
We all have within us a unique skill set found only within our own individual DNA, and we are the only ones who know how to operate the person we are created to become. We all have unique qualities reflective of the person we are and specifically tailored to our missions in this life. Each and every one of us are capable of a greatness unlike that of anyone else and it is up to us to discover just who it is that we are and to utilize ourselves to the greatest advantages for the common good; for His master plan.
Have you ever thought that you are a unique fit? When you take a look around you, do you see a lot of things that are not in agreement with your values and beliefs about life? Maybe this is where God planted you so that you first see what you dislike so that you better appreciate the things He has in store for you in your future. It’s also possible that when you feel like an outsider, really what you are sensing is your own uniqueness. No ones’ situation is perfect
but you may be in perfect
alignment, in perfect
harmony with the life He designed for you. No one ever said life’s lessons would be easy, and that is probably for the better. The harder the lesson, the stronger our beliefs will be in what we learn.
We are all capable of living our lives in line with our personal strengths. Among the many goals of this book is to get you thinking about living your life to your most optimum potential. Optimum meaning to effectively perform in line with your qualities, skill set and potential meaning to reach beyond all human expectations and exceed them. Mechanics, Lawyers, Architects, Pastors, Plumbers, Teachers, Masons, Educators, Carpenters and Journeymen of all unions all utilize tools from which they perfect their craft. We can also utilize the tools we have hardwired in our DNA to skillfully craft the life we are destined to live out.

Our dreams are generally not in line with our selfish earthly desires. Our dreams are in line, however, with selflessly accepting the tools God gave us and then utilizing them to their fullest potential. A person cannot exist alone in this world. Our missions are rooted in doing that which not only satisfies our desires to be a part of the bigger picture, but also positively contributes to the forward progress of other people we encounter along our journey.
Once you begin to try to figure out the scope of your capabilities, and begin to expend your energy in developing to those ends, your strengths will help carry you through to the next phase of your life. But you have to want to improve your current set of circumstances. You have to want to continually work on becoming someone better; more efficient, more effective, and more confident, and when you begin to do this, a happier and more successful person will begin to emerge. You cannot experience significant personal life improvement simply by idling in neutral or sitting on a couch watching the television.
Personal improvement comes from a close hard look not only at the person you have been but also the person you are able to become and then pursuing a path to discover that person. I am sitting here biting my tongue trying not to say this: You have no idea who you are!
If you have never done the hard work of researching and discovering who it is you are able to become, you have no idea who you are capable of becoming. If you can stick with the message of this book, you will take a step in a direction that you may think impossible today.
If you are not ready to step up to the person God designed you to be, read no further. If you are unwilling to do the work necessary to get to a point in life where you are a more effective person, the message of this book may not be for you at this point in your life. I’ve seen it happen where people embark on a path of improving their current set of circumstances and the whole idea becomes overwhelming to them and they give up. In fact, I have done this myself. Making the decision to work harder to become the person God wants you to be is hard work. It’s hard work!
Again, if you do not feel like you are ready, put this book back on the shelf or give the book to someone who is ready. In order to get the most out of the message of this book, you must be willing to begin to take the risks associated with changing your life. You must be willing to have a flexible and teachable spirit and a will to take a close hard look at your life and make the decision that it is time for changes to be made. I have that much faith in this message and I have that much faith in you.
A person cannot exist alone in this world; our missions are rooted in doing that which not only satisfies our desires to be a part of the bigger picture, but also positively contributes to the forward progress of other people we encounter along our journey.
