About this ebook

“What are you doing in my Condo?” There was no way to describe the stranger gazing across at her with a surprised look. Her thoughts raced as she compared him to a raw unbridled animal ready to pounce on her without giving her fair warning. The powerful masculinity of his attractive features and muscular body left her speechless.
A shock of black hair hung low over his forehead, almost covering the deep brown of his eyes that danced merrily with amusement over her shocked expression. There was no doubt in Hannah’s mind that this man was the most attractive male she had ever laid eyes on. For some reason she felt her pulse beginning to throb with awareness over the sight of his tantalizing body.
“I might ask you the same question,” he eventually answered, slowly reaching for a towel and draping it around his waist. “I’m Ryder Carson. Your name is?”
Hannah still couldn’t utter one word; her tongue felt too thick to speak. The man had her so mesmerized she had to stop to think what her name was.
“Well?” He stepped out of the tub and dripped wetly on the throw rug covering the tiled floor. “What’s your name and what’re you doing in my home?”
His words finally broke the spell she’d fallen under. “Your home? I bought this Condo from a real estate agent last week in Los Angeles. And if you must know, my name is Hannah Richards.”
“How could you buy it when I already own it?” He walked past her and entered another door.
She followed close behind him into a very masculine bedroom, only wanting to clear up the confusion. As she entered, she was in for another shock. He dropped the towel to the floor. Her gaze followed his movements as he walked across the room to a bureau and opened a drawer.
She couldn’t seem to look away from the perfectly shaped, rounded buttocks. Everything about this man named Ryder Carson looked perfect. There wasn’t the usual tan line across his hips and upper thighs, causing her to believe he must sunbathe in the nude. This was a new experience for her. To feel this overwhelmed by a virtual stranger was a definite oddity on her part.
He had to have known she followed him into the room, but it didn’t seem to make any difference as he continued to remove his clothing from the drawer and slip into a pair of shorts. He didn’t bother putting on a shirt as he turned again and his gaze landed on her.
“I see you’re still here, Hannah Richards,” he said in a husky tone.

    Chapter One

I’m going to lunch, Mrs. Jones. Hannah glanced at her coworker as she reached for her handbag.

Would it be too much trouble to bring me a salad? I’m behind and can’t spare the time to leave.

    Sure, no problem.

Mrs. Jones smiled at her. Take your time, I’m in no hurry.

Before reaching the cafeteria, Hannah ducked into the bathroom to check her appearance. As she looked in the mirror, her reflection bounced out at her. Emerald green eyes looked even greener in color by the dark lashes surrounding them. Her brunette hair held a natural wave gracing her petite shoulders. After applying lipstick, she washed her hands and headed out the door toward the cafeteria.

While she stood in line waiting for their order, the same old thought kept popping into her head. She needed a change of scenery. The idea to move to Florida had remained in the back of her mind since she had received the inheritance from an aunt she barely knew a few months earlier. The sizeable amount of money could give her the opportunity to further her education, or upgrade her employment.

The job she now held was going nowhere when it came to advancements. Hannah also realized the change in scenery might be just what she needed in her life now.

When she returned to the office with the food, she mentioned her proposed plan to Mrs. Jones. Are you sure you want to give up your job? There might not be too many employment opportunities in Florida?

Yes, I’ve thought it over for some time. I don’t see myself moving up the ladder here, so I should take the chance on a new beginning while I’m still young. I’ll miss you, Mrs. Jones, but I’ll keep in touch.

Her coworker reached out and hugged her warmly. You’d better.

At the end of the week, Hannah made plans to turn in her resignation. Before she gave her final notice, she called different realtors in Florida to find out about purchasing a Condo.

She was in luck and found one located along the oceanfront and sent the money to the realtor happy at her good fortune in finding something so quickly.

The following week, Hannah sat in the back of a cab headed for the airport. It had been an emotional scene with Mrs. Jones because her coworker was more like a mother to Hannah than a friend. Still, Hannah promised to keep in touch and let her know how things were going for her in the new state and new Job hunt.

The plane trip from Los Angeles to Florida proved uneventful. As she flew across the country, she made up her mind that this was her chance to start a new beginning.

The thought that she would soon have her own home sent a surge of excitement through her. Not since her parents had died had Hannah called anything permanent. The apartment in Los Angeles had been nice, but it hadn’t belonged to
