Chuck's Unique Poetry - Chuck Keyes
A Bloom of Magic
Autumn departed like an old trusted friend,
and the iciness of winter covered the land.
The trees stood bare to the gnaw of rime,
like the skeletal remains of summertime.
The meadow wilted to a dismal brown,
a reminder of lost loves that arc a frown.
The pond transformed into a sheet of ice,
and the creatures are dreaming of paradise.
The firmament of winter sheds hailstones,
a frozen chill that cuts through to the bones.
Swords of ice hang from the tree branches,
a burden of life where the strong surpasses.
The bitter North wind hums a sad ballad,
for the seasons of life have nearly depleted.
The span of existence will pass into winter,
a journey that leads to the funeral director.
The snow fell to dress the meadow in white,
and there stood a rosebush fighting for life.
A thorny shrub with a single bud of passion,
that magically bloomed in my wintry season.
A Dreamy Residue
So tender are my thoughts of you,
in which my heart does truly value.
My love for you, I can never undo,
for caring about you is a warm virtue.
Tears for you are like the morning dew,
bursting in a mist of gray and blue.
This one-way love I internally brew,
boiling my heart in a self-made stew.
Lonely drifting time in an old canoe,
devoting deeper into a gloomy bayou.
Dark shadows impeding a sunny hue,
warmth of love from a dreamy residue.
Such a lovely spirit in a troubled snafu,
emotionally torn in blizzards that blew.
A reverie of optimism offers no clue,
for a tender kiss of love I once knew.
A Dying Love
Scattered under a dying oak,
leaves like fallen tears decay.
Such a feeling it does provoke,
of a love that ended in dismay.
Branches peaking heavenward,
dried skeletal relics of a fatality.
Words of love no longer uttered,
callous winds groaning bleakly.
Proud once stood this tall oak,
loving with every windy sway.
Roots underlay to never soak,
a caring heart that love did slay.
Green leaves had once sheltered,
a bench swing for lover’s revelry.
Mighty limbs have now splintered,
upon the ruins of a closing diary.
A Fairytale Scam
Please pardon me for being me,
because being me is who I am.
If I misrepresent my actuality,
that would be a fairytale scam.
Good, flawed, nothing to hide,
by means of a phony personality.
So what I am you must decide,
whether or not to believe it's me.
Now I wonder who you really are,
for deceiving me would be immoral.
Passing yourself off to be my star,
to gain my devotion with a fable.
But every fairytale has an ending,
so time will unmask the real you.
The days following your unveiling,
may utterly shatter the lives of two.
A Haunting Love
I'm under her spell,
my gorgeous jezebel.
Exploding every cell,
with love does excel.
No one could foretell,
we met on a carrousel.
And for what the hell,
we hit the first motel.
Oh my sugary jezebel,
I can never say farewell.
Spirit of a southern belle,
murdered in a deep well.
A vision I cannot dispel,
my heart she does dwell.
Jealousy killed the belle,
a well under a carrousel.
An apparition to propel,
my inner spirit to swell.
I'm forever in her spell,
my unearthly jezebel.
A Junk of Freedom
My heart sang out to a new freedom,
knowing no other to be so awesome.
It sparkled in spite of aged mileage,
with unnoticed crinkles of damage.
I ran my hand along its sleek bends,
imagining it will attract girlfriends.
A perfect means for hidden ecstasy,
down the lane upon faded upholstery.
I slid in to sit upon the chariot's seat,
and keyed the horses' hooves to beat.
A plunge for liberty produced motion,
leaving behind a toxic gray apparition.
See me cruise my illustrious environs,
radioing tunes at maximum vibrations.
Dreaming illusions of being so macho,
while motoring along in my first auto.
A Savory Stew
A very unique stew,
with an essence of spirit.
Its listed on the menu,
under your life's banquet.
Love simmers the best,
for hate sours the taste.
A cup of humor for zest,
and loyalty to be graced.
A full scoop of self-pride,
and smiles for sweetness.
Add three cups of unified,
so all
