About this ebook

A collection of 50 poems written by Ken Jones to women he loved and lost in his life. Why 50? If Pablo Neruda could write 100 love sonnets, assuming I am half the poet he is, hopefully 50 of my love poems are worthy of a reader’s attention. Enjoy and peruse your own paths of passion wherever they may lead with whomever you find inspiring!

    Introduction to Pearls of Passion

I have written books of love poetry for each of the women that I truly and deeply loved. I care about and have dated other females but the women in these poems have stood the tumultuous test of the terrible times and toil it must take to love and be loved by an often-insane poet.

In another world each of these paths of passion might have led to an Eldorado of eternal togetherness. On this dirty planet these offerings in the temple of love are merely supplications of one deeply flawed human being for those who brought him some modicum of joy on the lonely highway we all ultimately walk alone.

I obviously have to thank the muses who shared their hearts with me and inspired these pieces. Names and places and much identifying data has been changed while still preserving the integrity of the poems, not only to protect the innocent but also to make the text more universal. Thanks to Lisa Crabtree, fellow poet and English professor at the Art Institute of Houston, who sifted through literally hundreds of problem poems to produce the 50-verse volume you hold in your hands. Why 50? If Pablo Neruda could write 100 love sonnets, assuming I am half the poet he is, hopefully 50 of my love poems are worthy of a reader’s attention. Enjoy and peruse your own paths of passion wherever they may lead with whomever you find inspiring!

"My life is a statement of the sum

    Of vice indulged or overcome

I know that in my loves to be

My sorry heart will ache and burn

    And worship unavailingly

The women whom I used to spurn

And shake to see another love

The love I spurned, the love she gave"

    John Masefield

"The first love is the training bride

The second is the one you marry

The third love is the deathbed bride"
