Sara Ann was engaged in one of her favorite activities. She was standing in her bedroom doorway watching her husband get dressed. Soft jazz floated in the air as he went through his routine. He had already put on his boxers and was selecting a pair of socks from his drawer before she arrived at her vantage point. He looked at her and smiled. Her heart did a little flip and a wave of heat surged down her body. She leaned against the doorframe. He sat on the edge of the bed and put on his socks. Usually, he’d go to the closet and select a uniform but today he was attending a special training and chose a pair of jeans and a light blue shirt. He stepped into his jeans and pulled them up. Then he slipped the shirt over his chest and began buttoning. Sara Ann opened her bathrobe as she walked to him.

I know you got up extra early, so you could stop by the station before you go to the training, but you don’t really have to go by the station first do you? She slowly unbuttoned his shirt.

No but I… Her nuzzling on his neck interrupted his thought.

I’ll skip going to the station. He removed her robe. She removed his shirt and continued kissing his neck.

Later, Sara Ann sedately lounged on the bed watching his as he gathered his underpants and shirt. She felt overwhelming love for this man. His magnificent nude body took her breath away. Thank you, God, she sighed. Jerome looked at her and smiled. Amen, he agreed.

Can I help? she asked. He stepped into his underpants and pulled on his shirt.

No, you can’t help. You can’t stop looking so gorgeous and sexy and irresistible. He stopped and looked down at her. She felt warm sparks of pleasure as his gaze moved down her nude body. She softly moaned and relaxed on her back.

I love it when you look at me like that, she purred. He struggled with his desire. His eyes dilated and the muscles in his jaws tightened.

I have to be downtown. He looked at the clock as he fumbled with the buttons on his shirt.

I’ll make you breakfast. Sara Ann stirred but before she could get out of the bed, Jerome had removed his shirt and was on top of her.

They usually have coffee and donuts at the training sessions, he said as he softly brushed her lips with his.

The ringing phone rousted Sara Ann from her afterglow. She turned off the radio and answered the phone.

    Hello.

Oh, I can hear it in your voice. You had morning sex.

I had great, mind-blowing, unbelievable, indescribable morning sex.

    Braggart.

Sara Ann stretched and replied into the phone, No Bonnie my friend, just stating a joyous fact. How are you?

Not nearly as good as you.

I am blissfully happy. Have you ever been blissfully happy?

    No, I never have.

I pray you have this type of happiness. It’s so yum.

I’m sure I’ll be happy for you after I get through the jealousy. You sound great and you deserve it.

So, do you? I still think you should meet Omar’s son if we can just get you two in the same state at the same time. But, meanwhile how was your date last night?

    No sparks.

    None?

    None.

I’m sorry I was hoping there would be something there, but you never did seem real interested in him.

That’s true. I only went out with him because I had nothing better to do. Since my mother moved in with me, I take any excuse to get out of the house.

    I understand.

I know you do. Speaking of mothers, yours is doing well with her work release. It’s only been a week but she’s doing well. She’s actually a good desk clerk, Bonnie announced.

I’m still surprised she was accepted in the prison’s work release program, Sara Ann stated.

She had a lot of heavy hitting support at her hearing, you, Jerome, his parents, your aunt, Jane’s husband, not to mention the warden himself, continued Bonnie.

And you providing the job for her that was the clincher. Bonnie, you have been such a blessing to me and my family. You know I love you, Sara Ann proclaimed.

It’s mutual, you’re an equal blessing to me, and you know I love you too.

I wish Alma could forgive mama. Holding onto all that anger and unforgiveness is not good for her. Alma still won’t talk to her or even talk about her.

I’m not surprised. After all Sally was in the car that ran Alma down and didn’t stop. That’s a lot to forgive. I think time is the best thing in that situation. It hasn’t been that long and it’s gonna take a while for Alma to forgive Sally. But other than that, how’s Alma doing?

Alma is doing very well, physically. There are no residual effects. She’s back to her healthy bouncy self.

That’s good, kids are so resilient.

Bobby's doing remarkably well in school. So, what’s new with Eli? Sara Ann asked.

The home inspection is next week. When we pass that my mother will become his official foster mother and Eli will officially move in with us. He hasn’t spent a night at that group home since he and mom met. He already has his own room and is always at my house unofficially anyway, we might as well make it official, Bonnie stated.

You know you like him, Sara Ann smiled.

    Yeah, I really do.

He is without doubt the smartest kid I’ve ever met, Sara Ann exclaimed.

I know. I need to protect his latest invention. I’ll tell you and Laura all about it later today.

Are you planning on coming to town?

That’s why I called, I’ll be there today. I have a meeting about Eli at 4 but I was hoping you, me, and Laura could go to lunch. How’s it going with your new house?

We close soon. I can’t wait for you to see it! Sara Ann exclaimed.

We’ll celebrate with lunch, Bonnie suggested.

That works for me. I've finished my first year of college and I'm off for the summer. I’m on my way to becoming a nurse, you have a new brother and Laura has Gunner and she’s decided to go to law school, yahoo.

Yahoo, I’m very happy for you. Is school what you expected? Bonnie asked.

I didn’t have any expectations. It’s a lot of reading and studying but I am learning a lot. I really enjoy school. Am I a total geek?

That you are, Bonnie laughed. I’m truly happy for you, if a happily married nursing student is what you want to be?

It is, Sara Ann confirmed with a broad smile. I have more than I ever dreamed possible. I am truly blissfully, happy and I want that for you too.

Me too but for today, lunch with my girls will make me happy. How about noon?

That works for me. The only thing on my agenda for today is to go by the bank to roll over a CD.

You don’t have to go to the bank to do that.

You sound just like Jerome, that’s the same thing he said.

    "Well, it’s true

I know but I prefer to do my banking in person. But, I’ll be done in plenty of time to meet you for lunch. I don’t know what Laura has planned for the day, Sara Ann stated.

I’ll call her. We talked last night and I’m under orders to call and tell her about my date. Yet another bad date, explained Bonnie.

That’s gonna change. The man for you is out there. You’ll meet him.

Well, I hope it’s soon ‘cause I’m tired of rotten dates.

Have faith. It happened for me, it’ll happen for you.

Amen to that sister. I’m gonna call Laura. I’ll see you downtown at my apartment at noon.

    I’ll be there, bye.

    Bye.

    And Bonnie.

    Yea.

Don’t give up. Keep the faith.

    Ok.

Sara Ann glanced at the clock it was a little before seven. She stretched and got out of bed. Retrieving her robe from the floor, she pulled it over her shoulders. The coffeemaker was set to a timer. Usually, she cooked breakfast for Jerome but this morning because they devoted more time to lovemaking he would have been very late if he ate breakfast before leaving for his training session. She walked to the kitchen and poured herself a cup of coffee. She stirred in cream and sugar, but the coffee was strong and stale tasting. She sat at the kitchen table for her devotional time. Every morning Sara Ann read her Bible before beginning her day. She took a few sips of the coffee while she read and meditated but fifteen minutes later, she poured most of it out. After completing her morning routine, Sara Ann dressed in a light blue dress with black buttons down the front and black leather ankle boots. Looking at the clock, she decided not to spend too much time on her hair. She scooped her curls into a loose roll and secured it with a decorative comb. After putting on lipstick, she dropped her cell phone in her purse and exited her apartment.

She was driving toward her in-law’s house when her cell phone rang. Hello.

    Hey Sara Ann, its Laura.

    Hey Laura.

It’s a little after eight so I figured you were on your way to see Alma and Bobby before they go to school?

That I am. This is their last day of school. Did you talk to Bonnie?

Yea, lunch is good for me, you want to ride together?

Yes, that would be good. I’m gonna be in your area. I’m gonna stop by Hyde Park bank later. I’m meeting the realtor at the house to get the keys at nine. We close next week but since it’s empty the realtor agreed to give me the keys today.

Great, after lunch me and Bonnie can come with you and see the house. I’ve seen it, but Bonnie hasn’t.

I’d love that! Doesn’t Bonnie have a meeting?

That’s right at 4 maybe we can meet after her meeting?

Oh joy, I’d love that! I love my house. I love that it’s two houses down from my in-laws. I love Evanston. Actually, we’re having dinner with Jerome’s parents tonight, how about you and Bonnie come too since my new house is right down the street?

That works for me. I talked to my mom last night after she spoke to Mrs. Powers. She told me Mrs. Powers has this big presentation today to do the PR for the police department?

Yes, this will be one of her biggest accounts. She’s very excited. Hey, let’s make it a celebration! I’m sure she’ll get the account.

That’s a great idea. We can get everything together while Bonnie’s at her meeting? Let’s get an ice cream cake?

Ok, let’s go to that place by Jerome’s apartment.

Yea, their ice cream cakes are the best. When is the lease up at Jerome’s apartment?

The end of next month, it should all work out fine.

Speaking of apartments, is Gunner coming with Bonnie?

Oh yes. I can’t wait to see him!

    You two getting serious?

As serious as I can get right now. This works because Gunner isn’t in town all the time. I don’t really want to get serious. I haven’t been a widow that long.

That’s true but love has its own timetable.

I don’t know if I love him, but I am definitely in like with him.

    Gunner is very likable.

That he is. We’re just enjoying the moment. He is so deep. He’s like a precious gem very multifaceted. He has a deadly side and he has such strong principles. I really like that about him. We enjoy each other’s company and we have fun when he’s in town. That’s all I want right now. I’m definitely glad you decided to sublet your apartment to him.

Yea that did work out well.

That man is so physically fit, we run and exercise. He’s getting me into healthy eating. I feel better than I did when I was a teenager.

You do recall that you are only 22?

Yes, but my marriage aged me.

Well your youth has been restored.

Amen to that. I have been loosed!

I am happy for you. I’ll be happier after I get some coffee.

You didn’t have coffee this morning?

It was stale, I’ll get some from my in-laws. I’m parking now.

    Ok, I’ll let you go.

Ok I’ll come to your place after I leave the bank.

Call me when you’re on your way to my place and I’ll have fresh coffee ready.

I’ll call but don’t bother with the coffee. I’ll go to Mellow Yellow. I love their coffee.

    Ok, see ya soon.

Sara Ann parked in the circular driveway of the Powers home. She loved the large picturesque estate. The stately blonde brick structure had large picture windows all around. It was
