Her cell phone signaled a text message. Glancing down, she saw that it was from Travis. For some reason, she had hoped it would be from Flynn but that was silly. She hadn’t even given him her cell phone number. That was something that she would have to remedy tomorrow.

Opening Travis’ message, she read it with a sinking feeling in her stomach.

“Sorry I missed you tonight. Your parents said you had a business dinner but they asked me to join them. I did wait around for a bit but I guess your dinner ran late. We’ll talk tomorrow.”

Just freaking great! That’s all I need, she thought.

He was assuming that they would be seeing each other like they had been doing for the past year. This was going to be more difficult than she had thought. There was no need to put it off any longer than necessary. She would see him tomorrow and tell him that she had thought about things and changed her mind. If she could just find a way to help him see that this arrangement wasn’t fair to him because she would never change her mind, then maybe he would more amenable to her decision. Hell, she might even try to find him a woman that would be perfect for him.

Actually, I wish that he would find someone that could make him forget all about how he thinks he feels for me, she thought. That would solve both our problems.

Chrystal let her mind drift to all of the single women that she knew who might be perfect for Travis. She started picturing him with various women on that list and thought about how she might introduce him to some of them. Soon she was starting to yawn, the tea having done its work.

She turned off her lamp and leaned back to watch the rest of the news. By the end of it, her eyelids were starting to droop. Reaching for the remote, she turned off the television and laid down.

She was asleep within minutes.

Sandra Ross

The moment Sandra Ross held her first romance novel when she was ten, she knew she was going to write romance. At thirty now, a prolific reader and a freelance writer, she's since then expanded her preferences from just romance to romance with a dash of now trending sub-genres—paranormal , fantasy, sci-fi even, and erotica. She loves challenging herself and would write on a dare. On a normal day, she would be found in her herb garden collecting spices for her kitchen or ingredients for her potions; in her huge eclectic Provencal kitchen with the big modern oven cooking pots and pans of food for her family of one husband and three kids (an ardent daughter and two boisterous sons) that'll probably last for weeks; in her library with floor-to-ceiling bookshelves and an e-reader in her hands as she reads the latest erotic hit; or scribbling pages upon pages of different erotic lifestyles, searching for the one that feels like it was inspired by just the right mix of passion, story line, and sex. Aside from these activities, the rest of the time she'd be found in front of her laptop typing the latest Sandra Ross concoction for her readers.

    CHAPTER ONE

CHRYSTAL SEABELL HAD a rather restless night after her conversation with Travis. She still wasn't sure that agreeing to let him try to change her mind was a good thing, especially when she remembered her reaction to Flynn Cavanaugh.

    My God. Flynn Cavanaugh.

She doesn't even know the man, yet she's already felt so much more excitement and attraction with him than she's ever felt with Travis! Or any other man for that matter.

As a result of all of her worrying, she had tossed and turned most of the night. By the time her alarm sounded the next morning, she was very tired and bleary eyed. If she hadn't had such a full day ahead of her, she might have been sorely tempted to go into work later. But she had too much to do for lying about like that. She had a couple of hours before she was to meet Claire at the apartment she was going to show her.

Yep, she thought as she swung her feet to the floor. Better get up and get started.

A shower helped to wake her up a little and she figured coffee would do the rest. When she finally headed out to her car, Chrystal felt back to normal. It also helped that the snow was falling softly again. She stopped and looked up into the sky to let the snowflakes kiss her face before getting into her car and heading into Majestic Bay.

She arrived at the apartment complex a few minutes ahead of Claire, so she had a chance to get the key and unlock the apartment. It was good that she had some time to inspect it prior to Claire seeing it. After entering the apartment, she was thrilled to see that it was, indeed, a very nice place. If Claire agreed with that assessment, Chrystal would make sure that she could get it an affordable rent.

As she was coming back into the living room area, Claire appeared at the front door of the apartment and knocked.

    Hello? she called.

Hey, Claire! Did you have any trouble finding the place?

Actually, none at all. Your directions were very clear.

Great! So let's give you the grand tour, shall we?

The apartment consisted of a rather spacious living area with a kitchen separated by a large bar/counter. While the kitchen was a bit small, it was definitely functional and upgraded. There were 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms off of a hallway that led from the main living area. It had its own walled-in private patio and garden so that Maddie would be able to play outside in a safe area. It was a basic apartment, but it was clean, spacious and carried a lot of potential for decorating to make it quite pretty.

Claire seemed to be amazed at the place, though.

I'm almost afraid to ask this now that I've fallen in with this place, she said. But what's the rent?

Well, that's the great news, Chrystal replied. It is income based so it will be whatever you can afford to make with your income. The best thing is that everything is included. Your power, water, trash pickup, basic cable and internet are all included with your rent payment. So it's a lot easier to budget it when you only have to figure out food and transportation costs.

Then she told Claire what the monthly cost was and Claire's mouth dropped open in shock.

Oh my god! she cried. I can totally afford that!

That's the point, Chrystal laughed. So, do you think that this will work for you and Maddie?

Oh, it will definitely work for us! I can't thank you enough, Chrystal, for everything you've done for us! This is just too perfect! When can we move in?

    Chrystal laughed again.

Seriously, Claire, you and Maddie deserve this and you qualify for this assistance. It's nothing that I've done. And you can move in at the first of January if you like.

Claire threw her arms around Chrystal and hugged her tightly saying thank you over and over again. Chrystal hugged her back, laughing delightedly.

"Now, then, let's go to the manager's office and get this
