Chrystal turned away from Flynn and started to walk down the hall. He quickly followed her and grabbed her. Turning her back to face him, he tried to kiss her.

Instead of feeling the euphoria that she used to feel whenever he kissed her, she felt like crying. “Stop! This cannot happen between us again.”

He looked at her, confusion and hurt evident on his face. “What are you talking about, Chrystal? What happened in the last twenty four hours that have changed things for you?”

Wrenching herself away from him, Chrystal glared at him before turning her back on him once more. “Zanna happened.”

He frowned. “What about Zanna?” Flynn demanded.

“She paid me a little visit last night. Turns out she had some truly interesting news to share with me.”

“Oh, god,” Flynn whispered. “Okay, how did she even know about you or where to find you?”

“I have no clue,” Chrystal said as she walked back through the kitchen to the family room sofa. “All I know is that she showed up here last night and demanded to speak with me. She shared her happy news with me right before informing me that I need to end things with you so that you will do the right thing by your child and marry her.”

CHAPTER ONE

CHRYSTAL AND FLYNN rose up very early the next morning to get back to town in time for Chrystal's job. Though, as soon as they became aware of their bodies entangled under the sheets -- of naked skin against warm naked skin -- they indulged, making love in a tender, passionate, sweet way that had them breathless and more connected.

There was a definite feeling of sadness and longing as Flynn locked the door behind them and they headed to their cars. Chrystal felt the same way. In just one short weekend, she felt as if she was a part of this place, and that it was a part of her. Their first time spent here would be ingrained on her memory as well as her soul. Of course, she expected that they would have many more happy times in the future, but she also knew in her gut that nothing would ever match the things that they had shared together this weekend.

They walked to her car first and he waited while she unlocked the door. Then he turned her to him and kissed her long and thoroughly before pulling back and looking at her.

I cannot tell you how much this weekend has meant to me, he said. I'm already counting the seconds until we are together again.

I feel the same way, Chrystal smiled. I almost feel a little silly about how happy I am right now. I don't want to leave.

I know you don't. Actually, if you did not have that pesky job to get to this morning, we could just say to hell with the world and hide ourselves away here -- just the two of us. What do you think?

Chrystal laughed. Oh don't tempt me! It wouldn't take much to talk me into just that!

You may be tempted, but not seriously so. What you do is important and you love it. I understand that and I am proud of all the people you help. In truth, your particular career is the perfect cover to use your abilities. You can help as many people as you like, your magic gives you a little extra boost when it comes to working things out the way you need for them to.

She looked at him warily, but he only grinned.

"I said that I would not speak of this again through the weekend, and I have kept my word. He kissed her quickly, once on the mouth and the tip of her nose. But we are going to have to talk about all of this, and soon. I realize that you must speak with your parents and I hope that you will do that quickly. There are many things you and I have to discuss before we can move forward to our future."

She sighed. Talk to them about if I'm adopted? That sure is easy.

He leaned and connected his forehead with hers. It isn't. Sometimes, we have to pay something for the truth to be told, he said gently. But if you don't do it as soon as possible, you hold up other truths that are equally important.

He straightened up and smiled tenderly at her. But you will soon know that yourself.

Chrystal sighed again. I will speak with them tonight, I promise. Then we can talk about whatever it is you're so certain we need to discuss. She might as well get it over with as soon as possible. Although she truly believed that all those things he's said about her being a fairy royalty were absurd, she still couldn't explain the many coincidences that had happened her whole life -- especially the most recent ones. They were weird, but... still unexplainable unless you put in the magical abilities Flynn kept on insisting she had.

After one more long and passionate kiss, Chrystal forced herself to get into her car. Flynn was still standing in the drive and watching her as she drove away. Through the whole drive back to Majestic Bay, she was reliving each special moment that had taken place during the weekend. Now, she fully understood what it means to be a woman, she thought as she smiled, and how wonderful it was!
