    Any self-improvement effort, whether long-term weight loss or other personal growth goal, must be developed through a process we call dual creation. This regimen has only two steps, but each is vital and must be completed in proper order. You change or improve yourself . . .

    First, in your mind

    Second, in the physical world

    All self-improvement occurs in your mind, in your thoughts, before you begin the physical actions that bring it about.

    This book is a guide for step one in how to literally change your brain and your thoughts, leading to success. We have focused on weight-mastery, but the processes and tools are exactly what are needed for any self-improvement effort. The title, One-Day Miracles, Change Your Brain to Master Your Weight, could be Change Your Brain to Master Your Social Skills or any other goal.

    Since this book is a guide for brain change, it does not include the training and recommendations for the biological requirements of optimal physical health. You won’t find recipes and fitness exercises in this work. There are many sources of healthful information available to you for the second step of dual creation.

    When you have completed your study of this instruction, if you desire an integrated approach for both steps of dual creation, we have a program that may fit your needs. The last chapter, From Thought to Action will provide additional information regarding it. Until then, it is time to begin to change your brain.

    Chapter 2 - Introduction

    Any diet or weight loss program that does not inspire and create brain change is doomed to failure for the long term.

    It has been estimated that dieters will regain two thirds of the lost weight in the first year and 95% of them will regain all of it and usually more by the end of the fifth year. Our experience with overweight and obese clients is consistent with this estimation. Perhaps this mirrors your personal experience as well with the weight loss challenge.
