Corinne had just finished eating and taken the medication when her doorbell rang.
Oh great, she thought, moaning as she got to her feet. Why does this keep happening every time I get comfortable?
She shuffled her way down the hall to her front door. Opening the door a crack with the safety chain on, she peeked outside. No one was in sight. Just as she was getting ready to close the door again, she glanced down and saw a rather large package sitting at her feet. It was wrapped in black shiny paper with a large silver ribbon around it.
"Hmm, first the flowers and now this," she muttered to herself.
Carefully, she picked it up and carried it back inside. After locking the door, she took her package back to the family room with her and sat down on the sofa.
I wonder what this is, she mused.
She slipped the ribbon off of the package, and then turned the box over to remove the tape at the ends. This allowed her to take the paper off without tearing it before sliding the box out of it. Using her fingernail, she slit the tape on the sides of the box and lifted off the top.
Inside, nestled in tissue paper, was a folded deep red velour robe.
Wow, she thought. This is gorgeous!
She started looking around to see if a card was included and she found it taped to the side of the box. She opened the small envelope and withdrew the card.
Staying warm is the best way to get well. Feel better soon. Your Secret Admirer....

The moment Sandra Ross held her first romance novel when she was ten, she knew she was going to write romance. At thirty now, a prolific reader and a freelance writer, she's since then expanded her preferences from just romance to romance with a dash of now trending sub-genres—paranormal , fantasy, sci-fi even, and erotica. She loves challenging herself and would write on a dare. On a normal day, she would be found in her herb garden collecting spices for her kitchen or ingredients for her potions; in her huge eclectic Provencal kitchen with the big modern oven cooking pots and pans of food for her family of one husband and three kids (an ardent daughter and two boisterous sons) that'll probably last for weeks; in her library with floor-to-ceiling bookshelves and an e-reader in her hands as she reads the latest erotic hit; or scribbling pages upon pages of different erotic lifestyles, searching for the one that feels like it was inspired by just the right mix of passion, story line, and sex. Aside from these activities, the rest of the time she'd be found in front of her laptop typing the latest Sandra Ross concoction for her readers.

CHAPTER TWENTY-SIX
EVE PULLED UP and parked her car in front of The Agency. She saw that Skylar’s car was there as well, just as she had promised.
Entering the reception area was still a bit of an odd experience since Skylar had re-arranged everything. Eve just couldn’t get over the positive change in the office. When she had moved into the space, she had sort just thrown everything in there in a way that mostly made sense. The way Skylar had moved things around made it look… tasteful or something.
Hey, Sky,
she said. You’ve really been learning through a baptism by fire method around here, haven’t you?
Oh, don’t worry about it,
she replied, with a dismissive wave of her hand. I like a challenge. So what’s up? Hunter didn’t tell me a lot when he called earlier.
I’m really going to have to get a television for out here,
Eve said, smiling wryly. It’s all over the news. Anyway, come into my office so we can talk.
A little more than half an hour later, Skylar was up to speed on everything and appropriately horrified. She was ready to jump in with both feet and do anything she could to help find out who this aberrance was that would take someone’s life in that way. Eve assured her there would be plenty of ways she could help them on this.
Eve studied Skylar’s ensemble today and was, as always, rather impressed. Sky was wearing a white, long-sleeved men’s dress shirt, a pair of black pants, and matching vest. Her earrings were both black and white. Around her neck, she wore a black collar with what looked suspiciously like real diamonds. Her boots today were still black but without heels. Once again, Skylar looked pretty spectacular. Eve was going to have to ask her how she came upon her sense of style sometime.
After Eve had returned some phone calls and explained to potential clients that she wouldn’t be available to take on new cases for a week or so, she realized that she needed to get into Stephanie’s house. It was the only way that she would be able to tell what had happened there. Not that she was certain that she would have a vision, but she had a pretty good chance of seeing exactly what had happened to Stephanie.
Hey, Sky, I’m heading back home now,
Eve said, as she went toward the door of The Agency. If you need me for anything, just call.
Sure thing, Boss,
Skylar said, as she glanced up from the computer.
Eve drove by Stephanie’s house on the way home just to see how many professionals might still be hanging around. She was a little surprised to see that there weren’t any people around, although there was still plenty of yellow crime scene tape surrounding the property. Parking at the curb in front of the house, Eve got out of her car and cautiously approached the house. She didn’t want anyone to see her going into the house and call the police.
Just as she rounded the corner of the house and was heading up the steps to the deck, her cell phone rang. Glancing down at it, she saw that it was Hunter.
Dammit! Now I feel like a naughty child caught with my hand in the cookie jar, Eve thought.
She already knew what Hunter and Chad would say about her being here alone, or maybe even being here at all. There was no way he could know that she was here, though. So she took a deep breath and connected the call.
Hey,
she said.
Hey yourself,
he replied. Where are you?
On my way home,
she said. Why?
Are you sure you’re on your way home?
he asked.
Yes; and why am I getting the third degree?
Oh, I don’t know,
he said. Maybe because I’m looking at your car parked in front of Stephanie’s house.
"Wait a minute; you followed me?" Eve asked incredulously.
Not exactly followed you,
Hunter replied airily. "We were headed over here and guess whose car
