About this ebook

“Someone who uses mental acuity, hypnosis and/or suggestion
A master manipulator of thought and behavior”
This is actually a good definition of what a mentalist is – but it is not a full definition. It is the definition given to a fictional character on a rather good American crime drama – “The Mentalist” - which follows former "psychic" Patrick Jane (Simon Baker), who is now a consultant to the fictional California Bureau of Investigation (CBI), using the highly developed observational skills he previously employed to "read" peoples' minds
It is a great show – and has been well researched. This book will not turn you into Patrick Jane – even Simon Baker is not as cool as Patrick Jane! However it will enable you to be a mentalist – a real mentalist – and in that sense you will be closer to Jane than our man who plays him – Mr Baker.
Mentalism or Mind Reading is the most exciting performing art. Once you dazzle your friends, family and acquaintances with a series of devastating seemingly psychic feats – they will forever hound you until you agree to give an encore. Wherever you go you will be pursued, pested and plagued by people who yearn to see you perform. It will change your life forever.
Book Me is a routine whereby you will learn how to determine what word some one is thinking of, while at the same time determining the author that is on someone else's mind. There are two stunning routines using playing cards whereby you seem to make predictions which inexplicably come true. You are also taught how to accurately guess the number someone is randomly thinking of - using dice. In another routine a spectator takes an imaginary journey to their favourite place - whereupon you guess this exact location. And finally - perhaps the most ambitious routine - and one any professional would be proud of - The Tarot Prediction - whereby you are able to give someone a complete "psychic" reading - while accurately and inexplicably guessing information which you should not know.
-
EVERY ROUTINE IN THIS BOOK WILL ALSO BE SHOWN ON VIDEO WITH AN ONLINE LINK– so as well as reading this revolutionary material – you will also have access to live performances and explanations. In essence – you are getting a free dvd! .
So prepare to learn some of the most powerful and closely guarded secrets in mentalism. You will be equipped with an arsenal of stunning and devastating mindreading effects that you can unleash on your audiences – large and small. Once you start there is no turning back. The existence you have known up until now will be changed forever.
When you have studied the routines and bits in How to be a Mentalist – and perform them – some people will ask you if you have “psychic power”. I suggest you answer – “no – not really” – then add while tapping your forehead – “the secrets are all up here”. Now that would make Patrick Jane smile.

Book Me
Someone thinks of any author. Another person thinks of a word from a book. The mentalist is able to correctly discern both the word and the author thought of.
Mental Stop
A spectator deals from a shuffled deck and stops whenever she wants and checks the last card. The mentalist shows the palm of his hand – it has that very card written on it.
Imaginary Journey.
Someone is asked to take an imaginary journey to any place in the world. The mentalist has a sealed envelope. When it is opened – the name of the spectator’s imaginary destination is clearly written.
Mental Dice
A spectator thinks of a random number using three dice. The mentalist correctly guesses the number.
Tarot Prediction.
After giving a psychic
reading to a spectator the Mentalist correctly guesses a tarot card the spectator is thinking of. Finally he shows a prediction – it has the spectators favourite colour, her mothers first name and her favourite place clearly written.
An Amazing Coincidence
The mentalist and a subject each think of a playing card. They both take their cards from a deck. They match – the mentalist and subject have both thought of the exact same card.

How to be a Mentalist
Introduction
If I asked many people what a mentalist was, they may come up with the following description:
/ men- ta –list / noun
"Someone who uses mental acuity, hypnosis and/or suggestion
A master manipulator of thought and behavior"
This is actually a good definition of what a mentalist is – but it is not a full definition. It is the definition given to a fictional character on a rather good American crime drama – The Mentalist
- which follows former psychic

peoples' minds
After a serial killer named Red John murdered Patrick Jane's wife and daughter, Jane dedicated his life to hunting down and killing Red John. To that end he gave up his lucrative pretence of being a psychic and joined the California Bureau of Investigation (CBI) as a consultant to the team responsible for investigating the Red John case, led by Senior Agent Teresa Lisbon. Using Jane's exceptional gift for observation and his mentalist tricks, the team is able
