About this series
A mentalist is a magician of the mind. And like a good magician he/she creates a sense of wonder, amazement and awe in an audience. A good Mentalist also wants to evoke a sense of fun as well as a sense of mystery. A mentalist – like a magician, seeks to take his audience into the world of imagination and leave them in a place of astonishment and wonder, where explanations run out . It is a marvelous place where all things seem possible.
In this book you will learn some world class “impromptu” mindreading. All you will need for most of these devastating routines is a pen/pencil and a few business cards or pieces of paper. In a sense this is the “Real McCoy” – no props – just you and your “abilities”. There is one routine with a couple of books, ordinary books that you can put to use any time or place and one involving a watch.
What lies herein are Professional and stunning demonstrations of mentalism from the authors own repertoire from over 30 years of experience on both sides of the Atlantic. He is aware that most publications on the subject for the general public often offer weak routines designed for the amateur. What is offered here – as in How to be a Mentalist – (1 2 and 3) and his other publications In Mind, Time Flies and his series McCoy’s Miracles - are super strong routines of a professional nature which are usually marketed by magic dealers for very high prices.
EVERY ROUTINE IN THIS BOOK WILL ALSO BE SHOWN ON VIDEO WITH AN ONLINE LINK– so as well as reading this revolutionary material – you will also have access to live performances and explanations. In essence – you are getting a free dvd!
This publication is probably the most exciting of the series. Why? Because you can achieve astounding results –truly great mentalism with just a pen, a few business cards and some pieces of paper. Impromptu, professional and world class.

- How to be a Mentalist II
A mentalist is first most an entertainer – a magician of the mind. And like a good magician he/she creates a sense of wonder, amazement and awe in an audience. But whereas a magician appears to do the impossible – the mentalist does the very unlikely – the extremely unlikely. For this reason mentalism appears more real than traditional magic. People believe there is more than mere trickery going on. They go away seeing your performance as something no one could do by “magic tricks”. The pieces offered in How to be a Mentalist II are of a professional nature. They are in most cases the invention of the author who has been a professional mentalist and magician for 20 years on both sides of the Atlantic. He was a keen amateur for 20 years before that. He is aware that such routines are usually offered to the “magic” community at very high prices in specialist publications. So be it. If anyone has the interest and discipline to learn this very high calibre material they will be richly rewarded and the author feels justified in offering this world class mentalism to those out there who are interested. As in Mr McCoy's other publications- he gives full video links to performance and instruction -to this world class material - a unique feature making the learning process more interactive and enjoyable.
- How to be a Mentalist: Time Flies
,A mentalism, mind reading and magic routine that has five separate moments of pure amazement. Indeed one could argue that it is in fact a professional demonstration of mentalism and magic involving five effects in one extended routine. As in my other publications – the main advantage of studying this – is the video links. There is a live demonstration of performance and a detailed video explanation. This in effect is equivalent to getting a free DVD. A spectator thinks of a time and a card. Another spectator winds a watch blindly to a random time. The mentalist determines the time - while the thought of card disappears from the spectators hand. The card is found under the watch. When the watch is turned over - the second spectator has inexplicably wound the watch to the time that the first spectator thought of. Some professional performers may take exception to me offering this material to the general population. It is true that such material is usually offered by specialist dealers to magicians and mentalists at very high prices. The authors view – like in his previous work – is that people who are willing to put the time in and have a real interest deserve quality material. All to often – the magic and mentalism offered to “muggles” is of poor quality and of little entertainment value. Time Flies has great entertainment value and has an absolutely stunning affect on the audience. Some people may decide to just use part of the routine. That is fine. But it has been designed in such a way that it builds - each revelation becoming stronger and stronger until the final devastating climax.
- How to be a Mentalist
/ men- ta –list / noun “Someone who uses mental acuity, hypnosis and/or suggestion A master manipulator of thought and behavior” This is actually a good definition of what a mentalist is – but it is not a full definition. It is the definition given to a fictional character on a rather good American crime drama – “The Mentalist” - which follows former "psychic" Patrick Jane (Simon Baker), who is now a consultant to the fictional California Bureau of Investigation (CBI), using the highly developed observational skills he previously employed to "read" peoples' minds It is a great show – and has been well researched. This book will not turn you into Patrick Jane – even Simon Baker is not as cool as Patrick Jane! However it will enable you to be a mentalist – a real mentalist – and in that sense you will be closer to Jane than our man who plays him – Mr Baker. Mentalism or Mind Reading is the most exciting performing art. Once you dazzle your friends, family and acquaintances with a series of devastating seemingly psychic feats – they will forever hound you until you agree to give an encore. Wherever you go you will be pursued, pested and plagued by people who yearn to see you perform. It will change your life forever. Book Me is a routine whereby you will learn how to determine what word some one is thinking of, while at the same time determining the author that is on someone else's mind. There are two stunning routines using playing cards whereby you seem to make predictions which inexplicably come true. You are also taught how to accurately guess the number someone is randomly thinking of - using dice. In another routine a spectator takes an imaginary journey to their favourite place - whereupon you guess this exact location. And finally - perhaps the most ambitious routine - and one any professional would be proud of - The Tarot Prediction - whereby you are able to give someone a complete "psychic" reading - while accurately and inexplicably guessing information which you should not know. - EVERY ROUTINE IN THIS BOOK WILL ALSO BE SHOWN ON VIDEO WITH AN ONLINE LINK– so as well as reading this revolutionary material – you will also have access to live performances and explanations. In essence – you are getting a free dvd! . So prepare to learn some of the most powerful and closely guarded secrets in mentalism. You will be equipped with an arsenal of stunning and devastating mindreading effects that you can unleash on your audiences – large and small. Once you start there is no turning back. The existence you have known up until now will be changed forever. When you have studied the routines and bits in How to be a Mentalist – and perform them – some people will ask you if you have “psychic power”. I suggest you answer – “no – not really” – then add while tapping your forehead – “the secrets are all up here”. Now that would make Patrick Jane smile.
- How to be a Mentalist III: Professional Mentalism with Playing Cards
This fourth outing on the art of Mentalism is completely devoted to the use of the Devil’s playthings – the wonderful pasteboards – or as we commonly call them, playing cards. A mentalist is a magician of the mind. And like a good magician he/she creates a sense of wonder, amazement and awe in an audience. But whereas a magician appears to do the impossible – the mentalist does the very unlikely – the extremely unlikely. For this reason mentalism appears more real than traditional magic. People believe there is more than mere trickery going on. They go away seeing your performance as something no one could do by “magic tricks”. Like in my previous publications, I also offer here something rather unique and of supreme value to the student. Every routine has a video link to both performance to live audiences and explanations. There are also links to teaching the various “sleight of hand” techniques necessary for the execution of these powerhouse routines. In effect the student is getting a DVD as well as written explanation. Also like previous publications – this is high class professional material – most of it original with the author who has been performing for over 20 years professionally on both sides of the Atlantic – and has been involved in the art of magic and mentalism for 40 years since he was a child. This is world class material for the serious student. At the end of the day however, magic and mentalism is not about moves and technique, it is about entering into a relationship with a person or people whereby you can lead them to experience magic – that childlike sense of astonishment and wonder where time stops. Tricks are only the tools of the trade. Astonishment and wonder however are very real. It is a great responsibility offering people a taste of Nirvana. It is also a great privilege.
