    Adamson’s glass of scotch vibrated on the table attached to his seat, the low rumble of the G5’s engines mixing with the mild turbulence. The gentle vibrations helped to sooth my concerns about visiting North Korea without a visa. Flying into Pyongyang without telling the US State Department wasn’t something a sane person did. Aaron Adamson wasn’t just anyone, though. He was my boss and the ultra-rich CEO of Adamson Aerospace, the multi-billion dollar defense contractor.

    You’re not worried, are you? he asked.

    I forced myself to smile. Maybe a little. Are they going to check our passports?

    We won’t even have to present identification. It’s all covered.

    He seemed so confident, even in the face of one of the most hostile countries on the planet. The ice in his scotch clinked as he swirled the liquid. Really, we’ll be fine. The idea is to get in, confirm the sale and get out.

    Do you actually have missiles on the plane? I looked around, wondering where they would fit.

    No. This is a business trip. The missiles will be delivered separately once we’ve safely left.

    I sank back into the recliner, wriggling my shoulders into the plush leather. That’s good. I imagine they would have been hard to explain to the customs agents.

    Adamson looked at me, his blue eyes boring through me as his brow furrowed. I could almost see him thinking. Finally, his lips twitched into a slight grin. That was a joke, right?

    I shrugged. It hadn’t been, but I wasn’t about to correct him. Instead, I scooped the tablet from the pocket on the side of my chair. A few jabs brought up my calendar so I could review the meetings Adamson had sent after he had announced our change of destination.
