About this ebook

Gabe:
It was supposed to be a one-night stand on a Saturday night. No names, no pretenses...just hot as hell.
And it was, until she showed up on my doorstep Monday morning, introducing herself as the new nanny for my daughter.
She's beautiful, and she's everything I want. But I can't have her...can I?

Penelope:
I thought one-night stands were just that...one night. Instead, mine turns out to be with an alluring doctor who's a single dad...and more than I ever expected in a man.
He's also my new boss.
That's why we can never be more than that. Gabe, however, doesn't see it that way, and he's determined to prove me wrong. Can one night turn into forever?

A Nanny For The Doctor - Cass Kincaid

    Chapter One

    Gabe

    ––––––––

Midnight on a Saturday night. Gabe didn’t remember the last time he’d been off work at that time, on that day of the week. Being a doctor wasn’t for the faint of heart, and no matter how much his professors and mentors in medical school had tried to drill it into his head, no amount of verbal explanation could have ever prepared him for the long hours and takeover of his life that becoming a physician had resulted in.

He still remembered how great a Saturday night could be, though. He’d yearned for it for the past few months, knowing he needed to take a night off and be the single thirty-four-year old man he was instead of hiding behind his doctor and single dad status. He was never going to be anything but that if he didn’t take a break once in a while and give himself a healthy dose of freedom.

Not that he didn’t want to be Ellie’s dad or a physician. Becoming a father had been the most earth-shattering, heart-exploding thing that ever happened to him. He was prouder of his accomplishments as a father to an eight-year-old than he was as a physician, and that was saying something because he was pretty damn proud of becoming a doctor, too.

Not that either of those things had helped him in the romance aspect of his life. Fatherhood and his career did little to lend a hand to relationships, and he admittedly had put both things before dating long ago. His daughter and job were Gabe’s first priorities, had been as long as he could remember, and he didn’t regret that.

But tonight, Ellie was staying with Gabe’s parents—something they constantly begged for despite always helping him out with her, and he let it slide tonight since the new nanny was starting at his house on Monday—and he wasn’t on call tomorrow, which was practically unheard of.

Gabe was going to have some fun.

A couple of his friends from college were in town, and they’d wisely chosen Amara’s as the club of choice. It was the newest bar in the city. It was also the busiest. If you could get in the door, you were guaranteed the lights, alcohol, and crowds you were looking to get lost in.

The place was packed with beautiful women, and Gabe was glad he’d put effort into not looking like a doctor on duty. Instead of his usual sweaters and dress pants, he chose the pair of jeans from the back of his closet that he hadn’t worn in ages and he paired it with a simple T-shirt. It showed off his bulging biceps and the thick cords of muscle in his shoulders, chest, and back. The light color of the shirt against his mocha-colored skin brought out the darkness of his eyes. A little cologne and a pair of nondescript black shoes, and he was ready to go.

Hell, he’d been ready to go for months. Having waited so long, Gabe’s chiseled body was practically begging to find some release and let off a little steam. He’d been pushing himself too hard. Because of it, other things had been achingly hard for far, far too long.

He couldn’t think about that. It only made it worse. Instead, Gabe broke off from his group of friends and headed back towards the bar to get another drink.

Budweiser, he announced to the bartender at the same moment someone to his left said, Coors Light, please.

Gabe turned to see a short brunette with chestnut hair cut into a chunky bob staring back at him. She wore a shimmery aqua tank top that showed off her slender
