    Chapter 1– The Garden

    Let’s check on our garden, suggested Keziah. Princess Keziah had brown curly hair and brown eyes. She was eight years old. Her two sisters were eight as well. The princesses of Kitty Castle were triplets.

    Keziah’s sisters and brothers agreed and followed her out into the garden in the courtyard. Kitty Castle was a very old and special castle. The high courtyard walls kept everyone inside the castle safe from the dragons that had taken over the kingdom.

    Just look how our plants have grown! said David, excitedly. Prince David was five years old, and he had short blond hair and brown eyes.

    The children had planted the garden as a Science project, using Princess Keziah’s seed collection.

    We should draw the plants for our Science homework, said Celesta. Princess Celesta had blond curly hair and brown eyes.

    I’ll go get the pencils, said Priscilla. Priscilla had straight brown hair and brown eyes.

    And get our science notebooks, said Keziah.

    When they had planted the garden, they hadn’t known what kinds of seeds they were planting. Their tutor, Mr. Raymond, had told the children to write down what kinds of seeds they thought they were planting. They had also drawn a map to show where they had planted each kind of seed. That way, they could check their predictions later.

    The children looked around at the different plants that were growing. Then Priscilla returned with the supplies.

    Ummm…let’s see, said Richard. Prince Richard was eleven and had short brown hair and brown eyes.

    Okay, said Keziah, "I see blueberry bushes, a lilac bush, potatoes, lilies, roses, a maple
