SNOWDROP

One snowy morning, the queen was sewing by a window, which was made of ebony wood. The needle pricked her finger and a drop of blood fell onto the snow.

“How pretty it Looks!” thought the queen. “I hope that my daughter wilt be as white as snow, as red as blood, and as dark as ebony!”

A few months later, the princess was born. Her skin was as white as snow, her lips were as red as blood, and her hair was as dark as ebony. The king and queen named her ‘Snowdrop’, after a ittle flower that blossoms in the winter.

Sadly, the queen passed on soon after the baby was born. The king took good care of Snowdrop, and she was a great comfort to him.
