Packing Tips
Careful packing is a prerequisite for an enjoyable trip. These tips will guide you through the process with some common sense and innovative advice.
• Luggage with wheels will make travel easier for you at every stage of the trip. Take exact measurements for your carry-on, personal item, and purse to ensure that they meet airline requirements. For example, the carry-on maximum for most airlines is 45 linear inches - the total of length, width, and height, including wheels and handles. Check carefully with the airline you intend to use for their specific requirements.
• Choose luggage without protruding straps and handles. Your suitcases might become tangled with other luggage, or get snagged on conveyer belts.
• If you are a smoker, be sure to wear a nicotine patch, or carry nicotine gum with you.
• If you wear contact lenses, pack all your essentials like extra lenses, cleaner, lubricating drops, etc. in your carry-on.
• Prescription medications should go in your carry-on as well - along with hard copies of all your prescriptions, in case you need to have them refilled for any reason while you travel.
• Some travelers swear by arnica to keep muscles relaxed, and melatonin to use as a sleep aid. Discuss them with your doctor, do some online research, and then make up your own mind.
• If you are prone to nasal allergies, don't forget to take pocket packs of facial tissue.
• Travel toilet tissue is also handy for a myriad of situations.
• Disposable earplugs can save you from the stress associated with noisy passengers, especially crying children. Earplugs also help to drown out other noises that might disturb you while you are trying to nap, work on
