About this ebook
The purpose of this book is:
To introduce the reader to ecstatic eating and to provide a basis for a healthy and happy life.
To show the aspiring vegetarian that meat, chicken or fish will not be missed.
To dispel the myth that the vegetarian diet does not have enough protein to promote good health.
As my teacher says, ‘Wealth without a healthy body is poverty. Your first step to riches is through “Wealth Food”, for health is wealth.’
The Himalayan Master’s Way of eating is the key to your health and wealth.
Romancing the Stove® 2.0 offers recipes in the form of meditation. It is important to realize that each dish is part of the romance and is named appropriately for a specific mood or occasion.
Get into the spirit of each name while you prepare the food. The name itself will suggest what the recipe, when followed, may do for you; and will help you to understand the effects of each dish on your mind and body.
Make each meal a celebration, an offering to the body for housing your spirit.
What more can be said?
Come with me, it’s time to go to the kitchen and get really romantic with life!!!

THE
AUTHOR’S
NOTE
My Tumultuous Journey to Health and Wealth
Let me tell you how Romancing the Stove® 2.0 (also known as RTS 2.0) came about.
Imagine a woman, a mother, who has just brought her family to a new country. She does not have any one to turn to for advice or for comfort. She has no money. She does not speak even a word of English.
This woman was I, and this is my story.
Staying healthy for me was not a matter of luxury; it was a matter of survival. Even though I was the daughter of a physician, I was not immune to the unhealthy influence of an improper diet and lifestyle. Over time, a number of factors, including poor eating habits, led to a serious deterioration in my health. Frequent sicknesses and the search for new doctors and drugs became a familiar part of my existence.
After going through many traumatic experiences, I found myself in complete physical and emotional disharmony. Excruciating pain drove me to a new quest – to build a healthy body that could handle my demanding and busy existence. I also wanted to look young and beautiful. I wanted to live, to love, and to experience romance again.
My search for the fountain of youth, that magic elixir that could reverse the effects of my harried life and fast aging, has also been the eternal quest of humanity. The stress of today’s multitasking world demands a lot from a human being. I needed to survive and to stay strong to combat the ravages of the fast life that I was forced to live.
I have not found the formula for eternal youth yet; but I have found a life-giving fountain of energy and vitality through the Himalayan Master’s Way of healthy eating.
My good fortune brought me to a great teacher, Tulshi Sen. He introduced me to the Himalayan Master’s Way of food preparation and eating and the wisdom hidden behind every recipe. I was open-minded. I was ready to try anything to feel better. And so I did. I had nothing to lose but my anxiety and fatigue.
It did not take long for me to feel the difference. The results were beyond belief! I experienced true wellness and radiant health. My well-being changed completely as I integrated the Himalayan Master’s Way of cooking and eating into my life.
It was just the beginning of my personal success, but my real triumph began by becoming healthy.
Inspired by this astonishing change in my life, in March of 1997, I wrote Romancing the Stove (also known as RTS), so that anyone, who wanted to improve their life, could benefit and prosper from what I had learned from my teacher.
A few years later, we trademarked ‘Romancing the Stove®’ to create different products and offer different services.
Many people who tried this food loved it, and wanted more. And so I expanded my first book into Romancing the Stove® 2.0 with more exotic recipes, photographs, philosophy, and insights based on the Himalayan Master’s Way.

INTRODUCTION
WHO SAID
HEALTHFOOD
HAS TO BE BLAH?
Try This for Size
While vegetarianism is catching on in the Western world, it is still considered by many to be a part of an off-the-wall lifestyle, practiced mostly by new-agers
and by those who are unable to eat meat.
However, recent gains in the popularity of adopting this diet would suggest that the population of vegetarians is growing by leaps and bounds.
We are not trying to preach vegetarianism, nor do we wish to be associated with what might be considered fanatical or faddist approaches to eating food.
The purpose of this book is:
• To introduce the reader to ecstatic eating and to provide a basis for a healthy and happy life.
• To show the aspiring vegetarian that meat, chicken or fish will not be missed.
• To dispel the myth that the vegetarian diet does not have enough protein to promote good health.
Consider such large and powerful warm-blooded animals as the elephant, the horse, the bull, and the cow. They prosper on a strictly vegetarian diet. The protein they require is derived from grasses and grains that are their principal source of food.
We do not need to rob them of their lives in order to appropriate their protein, because with the right balance of plant food, which contains essential amino acids, we can obtain all the protein we need.
Dairy products help round out our source of health giving foods. Somewhere between protein over consumption and protein deficiency there is a balance.
Any doctor worth his/her salt will tell you that too much protein is not good for you; and that the proper amount of daily protein intake is essential for health.
Your social life does not need to be adversely affected by becoming a vegetarian. You can enjoy eating and be a vegetarian too.
I used to eat raw vegetables for dinner every day until I came to the conclusion that there wasn’t much enjoyment in this practice.
Before I met my teacher, I use to think that it is a pain to be a vegetarian. I was mistaken in my belief that I would be restricted to raw or partially cooked vegetables, bland tofu and lentils on a daily basis. Believe me, it was no fun.
Only after I learned the Himalayan Masters Way of nutritious and tasteful cooking, did I find a real joy of eating!
Since the body is a temporary harbour for the soul, it must be kept clean and in good order. The body is essential in helping us to realize our purpose. That makes us look differently towards cooking and eating.
I learned that cooking is not a daily event to be dispensed with as quickly as possible. I learned that cooking can be the beginning of self-romance and a form of meditation, as well as a relief from stress. I learned that romance with the Self or the Soul is the true romance.
