- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I enjoyed this thriller. The setting in beautiful Montana and the native American culture were intriguing. The characters were believable, but I felt that the narrator - the solver of the mystery - was too ordinary to really care about.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5The main character of The Bluejay Shaman is Alex Thorssen, art dealer and amateur sleuth from Jackson Hole, Montana. She is pulled into a murder investigation when she tries to help her sister's husband who has been arrested for the murder of Shiloh Merkin. The Bluejay Shaman is set in Montana and one of the major themes of the story involves how college academics and new-agers interpret Native American religious beliefs.
The plot works and the characters and dialogue are fairly well developed. The information in this book regarding art is very interesting, and I enjoyed reading about it. The plot had a promising premise but was slow to get moving. I found it difficult to get into and it was hard to read because of the poor editing job. This is the first of a series that has apparently ended so I can't imagine myself reading any more of her books. - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I enjoyed this thriller.
